BR and Council Tax Arrears

Firstly for context I will be submitting the bankruptcy application on or around Sunday 2nd or Monday 3rd December.

My local council in their infinite wisdom have decided that I haven't paid my council tax properly (I was £12 in arrears) and as such cancelled the payment agreement to pay monthly up until the end of the tax year as normal. As such I now have a summons to the local magistrates court for the total outstanding amount plus additional costs. In total just over £600. The date that I have been summoned to appear is 5th December.

Does this entire amount get put into the BR? If yes does this mean I don't need to pay council tax until they issue the next bill in March of 2020?
Don't worry it'll all work out in the end

You can include the balances due up to 31st March in your bankruptcy.

If someone is jointly liable with you then they will however remain liable for the outstanding amount.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

So that would that be March 2020? In which case I wont start paying council tax again until April 2020.

My wife is going bankrupt with me at the same time so there will be no liability for either of us.

    Thanks for you reply.
