PiP assessment areas

I am still waiting for my PiP assessment - having been on DLA for over 14 years

I have found a map on line (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/610293/personal-independence-payment-postcode-map.pdf) that doesn't help but tells me that MY area is to be assessed by an INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT SERVICE - This, I assume is to replace the sacked ATOS ?

Surely, if the whole county is covered with independents - how can there be any "standard" levels of assessment ?
There used to be an on line timetable - which has vanished ....

Well, not quite - https://www.mypipassessment.co.uk/about-us/ At the top left corner, you'll see a logo of sorts:

    Independent
    Assessment
    Services
    Delivered by ATOS

It appears to be an assessment company with 'Independent' in their name - in an attempt to reassure scared and understandably-cynical PIP applicants?

You are correct - that is appalling news
The reason evidently is that both CAPITA and ATOS have been given a 2 year extention on their contracts despite nearly 70 per cent of PIP appeals being successful and on average PIP claimants being forced to wait for 11 weeks for decisions.
I understand that the software used to determine claimants eligibilty is owned by ATOS and CAPITA and the government has to develop their own before sacking the two companies...
  • According to much of the case law I've been reading, it's actually the DWP making the wrong decisions and attaching too much weight to the f2f assessment reports. Of course it doesn't help when the so-called healthcare 'professionals' give blantantly flawed reports, but when it contradicts all the other evidence then surely the DWP DM needs to think twice about basing their decision entirely on the report in the first place.

I'm not defending ATOS or Capita, Not At All, I'm just saying that the DWP are probably equally to blame.

The recent shift towards actually considering appealed cases before they get to the tribunal clearly shows there are some DMs capable of doing their job. It's just a shame it's been however many years and so many people's lives (not to mention the undoubtedly astronomical cost from already limited public funds) before making this small amount of progress.
