Funding care in a nursing or your own home 7th Nov 19 at 4:50 PM
If the Local Authority agree to fund a nursing home, can you still claim AA?
Can you claim AA if the Local Authority fund a home help?
    TIA

Attendance Allowance is not payable after the first 28 days in a care home, unless you are completely self-funding.

Attendance Allowance will continue to be paid if you are in a nursing home and the only help you get with your fees is an amount called the Registered Nursing Care Contribution from the NHS.

Your council or trust can take Attendance Allowance into account when calculating how much you might need to pay for any care services you receive.

Your home help question has it the wrong way round - if you are entitled to Attendance Allowance, the council can still provide a home help, but the AA is taken into account as income.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
