02 free treats for customer with them for more than 6 months 3rd Oct 05 at 10:38 AM
    O2 Treats

    http://www.o2.co.uk/treats
A one-off treat is nice. One-every-single-month is nicer still.

Welcome to O2 Treats. A little something for O2 customers* to enjoy, month after month after month after month.

It couldn't be easier to use O2 Treats. Just call free on 2211 to choose your treat from free texts, minutes and more. It's really that simple.

And because they're free, you may want to do something you've not tried before with your calls or texts when you get them. Why not phone for a cup of tea from your bedroom? Or text your mates to wish them a very happy Tuesday? Whatever makes you happy.

*Customers must have been with O2 for six months to take advantage. New customers can register in advance.

If you are a new customer (i.e. less than 6 months) check out http://www.o2.co.uk/joiningtreats

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Official insert

O2 customers can bag a free three-month trial on one of the extra services below. O2 offers this in the hope that you will forget to cancel the service and they can keep billing you for it.

    *100 messages each month
*250 off peak minutes to landlines and O2 phones each month
    *50 anyone minutes each month

You get the deal by texting a code to a special number (all listed at http://www.o2.co.uk/treats ). The offer runs until 10 Jan 06 and you need to have been with O2 for at least six months.

But don't foget to cancel when three months is up or you will wind up being charged. O2 says you have to cancel at least 72 hours before your payment is due (best check the exact date when you sign up).

    by MULE
The "treats" listed on the O2 website are:
    • Calls 50 - 50 anyone minutes each month
    • Messaging 100 - 100 messages each month that can be used to send texts or picture/video messages
    • Home 250 - 250 off peak minutes to fixed-lines and other O2 mobiles each month from home
But when I go through on my phone to claim a treat I'm told that I have to change my tariff to take advantage of the treats and as I have quite an old sim with a never to be repeated tariff I'm wary of changing it in case I lose the advantages I already have.

I'm neither on a contract, nor am I on PAYG. My O2 sim is called "For Life" .. there is no monthly fee, and I get 200mins free a month. I dont think they offer this sim anymore. Theres no topping up, its just invoiced like a contract phone (billed for 0 if you dont go over the 200mins hehe). As I suspected, I did not qualify for O2 Treats. I was told I need to "upgrade" my tarrif.. i.e. pay them, so i can get my "free" treats. Not likely! My tarrif is also too "old" to send/receive picture messages, even though my phone has a built in camera! Oh well theres always e-mail! O2 badly want to get some money out of me, hehe, not going to happen!
I hear the cry of the silence around me.

Same as mine (except mine is 50 free anytime minutes) and yes, I agree, O2 desperately want to get some money out of you because you don't pay them any contract fees "for life". Tariff too valuable to swap for anything else.

RowaN - you may be interested to know that last year I managed to get an upgrade phone from O2 at considerably lower than the normal price even though I was on the Pay Up Front For Life tariff, just played a little dumb about how much I paid for the contract. They even offered me a phone free, but not the one I wanted, so didn't take them up on that. When I've tried in previous years there was no chance I could get an upgrade phone because of the tariff I was on, they thought I was already getting quite a good deal from them. Thought it quite funny when they asked if I wanted to alter my tariff to something better - quite emphatically said NO thank you.

I chose 15 free minutes a to other 02 mobiles or landlines.

I only really use the phone for free texting (from the 300 free calls) or the odd call. 15 minutes will probably cover about half my calls!

    other choices were:
    10% off all calls
    free access to voicemail
    20 free text messages.

    All were for three months.

    re
I rang the number and got a recorded message which said I had to top up my phone by 10 each month before the 27th to be eligible. No good for me, 10 can last me anything up to six months.

Same here, 10 lasts me for ages but I'll probably top up for the free treat.

Brilliant post, thanks! Now I have 20 free minutes any timeof the day for three months, not bad. That should cover the few minutes that just bring me over my 15 pounds a month for a while.

    Sorry but

    a) I didn't see the original post about the treats as it is on the mobiles board which I never look at - I just stay on the bargains buys etc board

    b) Having now looked at it - it says for contract customers only in the title which it isn't and therefore I and many others wouldn't even have bothered reading it

    c) I only mentioned the joining treats for those who couldn't get the one for existing customers but who had read the message and might feel like they weren't getting anything - the point is to help people out isn't it?

I already get 300 free texts a months, 150 free minutes and 10% back on my credit bought

so this month I topped up 15 and got the last 3 months allowance of 14.00 creditted back so now have 29 credit plus 300 txts and 150 minutes.

Will these 'treats' be additional to my tarrif then?? guess I will have to phone and see!
