Help needed with blackberries

Hi, I bought a couple of thornless blackberry bushes today that I'd like to plant up asap. The instructions say that they need to be planted in deep soil. Does this mean that I can't grown them in a pot? Do they need to go straight into garden soil, or could I put them in something like a dustbin? I have some 12"ish deep pots that I'd like to put them in but don't know if that would be deep enough, also have a spare plastic dustbin but don't think it would look as good on the patio!!
Thanks in advance, Soba

    Hi,

be careful with planting blackberries in the garden - they grow everywhere. I am in a constant fight to keep them contained in our's. Sorry I cant help you with your query more though.

I doubt you could plant them in a pot, as they are large bushes with quite big roots.
