Sky Broadband Social Tariff
I've just called Sky to ask about their Social Tariff, after searching for the same on their website. It says that, those claiming Pension Credit (along with other means tested benefits), are eligible. The first agent I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about so transferred me to India (?). She told me I could only…

Will moving to Ultra Fast improve streaming speed / picture quality?
I'm currently with Talk Talk at approx 40 Mbps - if I switch to a much faster speed of 450-500 Mbps, will the streaming quality improve, and things such as buffering disappear? Or is anything higher than 40 Mbps pointless with regards to streaming as it's already fast enough?

Ultra Fibre now installed - but which provider?
Openreach were around last week to fit Ultra Fibre to the flats in my building and today I received an email from them saying it is now ready. However, if I try the MSE comparison, my address is still showing as unavailable. If I go direct to the Sky website they say it's available for £33/month at 500 mb/s and 900mb/s for…

Confused by 'Residential UG partial Direct In Ground' term
Hi all, Looking to get full fibre broadband to my home. Currently have copper wiring at a grey box on the outside of our home. Trooli have said they can install us next week, but I went on the BT Broadband Checker site and it said this about our connection: Our records show the following FTTP network service information…

Cheapest VoIP options to keep landline number
It seems that most of the broadband companies are either ditching landline provision or hiding the details in their post-PSTN packages, most like "BT Voice" as it's called seem to charge over the odds. VoIP doesn't need to be tied to the broadband provider and existing numbers can be ported. However, it doesn't seem as…

BT contract when moving
Hi we are in the last 7 months of a BT 2 year contract and about to move home. BT are saying that we need to sign up for a new two year contract or the current contract will be extended to 12 months at the current rate. I’ve looked at the Legal Stuff and can’t see such a condition. I have challenged and was told if we were…

CPI increase on new account
I have recently joined plusnet and am due to recieve my new service on the 22nd March. I have received an email stating that my prices have gone up in line with CPI plus a bit. I realise this is pretty standard but thought this was a bit cheeky given I haven't even started and am within my initial 14 days. Anyone got any…

Switching from Talk Talk due to poor connection
Currently, I'm subscribed to Talk Talk's broadband-only Fibre 65 deal, and I'm outside of the contract period. I haven't renewed my contract due to ongoing internet connectivity issues. When I connect my TV using a cable, apps like YouTube and Disney Plus often report no internet connection, and the WiFi signal in my flat…

Unlimited mobile data sim advice
I unexpectedly moved to a new house on Tuesday and urgently need a mobile data SIM to be able to work from home. Today, I tried a Smarty Mobile PAYG data sim (unlimited plan), but the 4G speeds at my new house were terrible (wasn't able to work at all), despite the online coverage checker indicating that 4G speeds would be…

Vodaphone VOIP telephone numbers
I've signed up with Vodaphone for a fibre broadband connection that come with a VOIP phone facility. ISP says I'm under a contract
My ISP has just sent an email saying they will increase the price by 7.7% in April and that I am under contract, but as far as I'm aware the fixed contract ran out in October 2022 if not earlier. They did offer me another fixed contract last April but I never responded and have being paying £31.49 per month, instead of…

Does VM request hub return if leaving?
This is a daft question I know. But there is a reason 😂. I'm looking to leave Virgin Media and if I do do they request the hub/modem back? I'm assuming they will. It's just that the hub is in our spare room which nobody can access because of the crap that's just been dumped in there.

Vodafone rejecting applications for social tariff
Quick question - how are people actually getting the social tariff with Vodafone? I applied a month ago and got told that I failed the credit checks - I have a good credit history and have never had any issues with credit cards or bank accounts or utilities. The reconsideration is a joke, they just say yes you failed and…

Disconnection fees if moving from NowTV Fibre to Virgin and later back again (out of contract)
Years ago, I remember there were large fees if you stopped ADSL completely, even outside of contract. This was to cover the cost of someone going to the street cabinet and disconnecting the line. Then there was a reconnection fee if you came back, though BT Broadband waived that. Do these fees still exist/apply for fibre?…
