Historic bankruptcy and pensions
My father was declared bankrupt in 1992. In 2011 he became eligible to receive a private pension. However Windsor Life Assurance (pension provider) notified the Insolvency Service (TIS) of this and they duly claimed this last part of my father's estate. I've recently been looking at this documentation and wonder if my…

Do all bank account get frozen?
I was declared bankrupt on the 29th and I have opened a new account with Monzo. But I am unclear what is meant to be happening with my old account. I thought it was meant to be frozen immediately. Direct debits are going through as normal. Am I able to use this account or does the freeze take a few days?

Morning all, This forum was an absolute godsend all those years ago and I find myself needing you again! I’ve had a letter out of the blue today from a company called Capquest. It’s in my maiden name which I stopped using in 2005 but the name I would have used for some pre bankruptcy debts. It tells me my debt of over £4K…

Bitten the bullet
Today I have finally bitten the bullet. Paid the money and submitted the application. I came to this forum a bit late but I did speak with stepchange. The lady I bought the business from had everything in ordered. Had it…

Is my post-bankruptcy mum's money now safe?
My mum was bankrupt in 1998. She assumes it is discharged after all this time but does not have any paperwork. We cannot find her on the Insolvency Register. However when she tried to cash in a pension pot of £35k in 2017, the pension provider informed the official receiver who then claimed it all and she never saw it. I…
