Discharged bankrupt, why can't I get an ISA?
I was discharged from bankruptcy 2.5 years ago, I now find I have some spare cash each month that I would like to pay into an ISA. Why have I been refused an ISA account due to my bad credit history? Surely it's a good thing that I'm trying to save some money now! Could somebody please explain why it is necessary to credit…

Transfer of ISA
Hi, I've had an ISA with NS&I for a number of years now and stop contributing to it last tax year. Since then (this year) I have been contributing to a Maxi Stocks & Share ISA with Hargreaves Lansdown. I would like to transfer the NS&I ISA to another Cash ISA to take benefit of better rates. Can I do this now or would I…

Vince meets his match at last?
I speak of the Great Vincent of Cable - the mighty Bean slayer - who has written on behalf of a constituent to Angelica Night of Darkness of the BBA-world conspiracy: http://www.bba.org.uk/bba/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=145&a=14216 (Now do you think that he got a proper answer or just a 'fob-off'?) I've been writing to my own MP…

'Multiple' ISAs & allowances
I'm a bit confused with ISAs- I'm aware that you can open a new cash ISA each tax year, but can you keep depositing money in more than one cash ISA, even if the overall amount across ALL your ISAs is more than £3600 in any tax year? or, do you have to stop depositing in your 'old' ISAs if you begin depositing in a new ISA?…

£23k in shares ISA what do with it - help.
Hi, this is my first posting so I hope someone can help me. My mother is 68 and since she started receiving her OAP pension she has put this money into an ISA which is a Virgin Tracker so we presume it is a stocks and shares ISA and now has £23,000 in it. From reading the site I know she can not transfer this to a cash ISA…

Can you put cash ISA compensation back in an ISA
If my bank goes bust and I recieve compensation money for my cash ISA, (which was built up over several years, but less than 35K), can I then put this money back in another ISA? Or has my ISA been 'unwrapped' by the bank going bust? The FSCS did not know the answer nor did a financial consultant. If the later is the case…

Good honest, no frills ISA needed...
Hi, I've got about £3760 in an NS&I ISA, about £2000 in a HSBC ISA (Paying pitiful interest) and another £3600 to invest this year. I've been meaning to sort out my ISA's for ages but never got round to it. Firstly, is it worth me switching? And secondly, if so, to where? I'm looking for a nice simple to use ISA that…

07/08 Barclays Cash ISA - CANCELLED!!!
Dear all - I'd really appreciate some opinions on the following situtation! Following some advice posted on this site my wife and I applied for Barclays Tax Haven ISAs for 07/08 and advised my parents to do the same. We all applied pretty late (March 08). My wife and I are still awaiting final confirmation that our ISAs…

how complicated are stocks and shares isa's?
I have cash isa's but have decided to try a stocks and shares isa. I have never had anything to do with stocks or shares before and so am alittle nervous as have no real understanding of the market. I am reasonably savvy with the rest of my money (savings, cash isa's and over paying mortgage) so am interested to know…

HBOS ISA Investor
Hi Just after a bit of advice. I currently have an ISA Investor (catious fund) with HBOS and since the LLOYDS/HBOS announcement the value of my fund has dropped quite a bit. Do I keep my investment with HBOS and wait to see if share prices rise or do I ditch HBOS and move my investment elsewhere. At the moment I have…

Isa question...
I have an ISA with Natwest. It's been open 2 years. Can I put £7200 in it now and still have tax free interest? I can't believe I didn't put £3600 in when my bank manager advised me to. I didn't understand how much I would save. Current balance is something like 62p. I have a feeling the answer is going to be no.

Where's my money!!!???
I was due to pay for and collect my new car today, but somebody somewhere appears to have cocked up my CHAPS transfer. On Saturday, I went online to transfer £3,500 from my Icesave ISA to my Halifax current account. I even phoned Icesave this morning to make doubly sure the transfer would go through so that I could draw a…

Lloyds 6.50 % Fixed Rate ISA to Natwest
I opened a Lloyds fixed rate Isa in Feb 08. The money eventually went in, in May 08. The customer service has been awful and they have been ambiguous as to whether the 1 year rate applies from Feb or May. After complaining at a different branch I eventually received a letter stating my 6.5% ISA commenced from 13th May.…

Transfer from Icesave to Natwest?
Hi, Ive got just over £10k in an ISA with Icesave and am not sure whether its worth me transfering it to the new Natwest ISA. I would qualify for the 6.87% interest so the difference in interest for the year would be approx £81. This difference would more than cover the time taken to transfer from one to the other. In any…

Whats the best rate ISA at the moment for £2000ish, it will not be touched for 12months. Thanks in advance.

Partial ISA transfer
I transferred 2 cash ISAs from Abbey to a YBS E-ISA a few months back. I paid £1000 into the abbey ISA before opening the YBS ISA. I paid £10 into that after completing the transfer forms. To cut a long story short, a phone call to HMRC said I'd broken the rules paying into 2 ISAs inthe sam year, but since the Abbey had…
