Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Take a peek at my hand?
************************************************************ Hello. I'm an amateur investor with a stocks and shares ISA account since 2006. This is a diary type thread to share my thoughts and to chart the ups and downs. The diary started on 31st December 2014, and I update it at the end of each quarter. I am particularly…

Implications of withdrawing from a Lifetime ISA
I opened a Lifetime ISA when I was 39 (in 2021). I bought my house in 2014 so I am using the ISA to save for my pension. I spoke to Hargreaves Lansdowne today (the ISA provider) and I am confused about the implications of withdrawing from a LISA for invalid reasons i.e. before I am of pension age. To explain, let's assume…

Saffron Nominated Account Issue?
I applied for a 12 Month Members Regular Saver account with Saffron over the weekend, heard nothing from them. Rang them earlier today, not much said to me tbh, apparently they can't verify my Virgin Money account which I find strange because I've already got two savings accounts ( esaver & members month regular) with them…

Opting out of SERPS
I have recently looked at my pension forecast where it confirmed that I did indeed opt out of Serps. However, I have no idea where this pot is held. The company I worked for at the time went into liquidation and I don’t know what happened to the fund. Or indeed, where it was held. How do I trace where this pot is.

Personal savings allowance and staying out of higher rate tax band
I hope someone can help. My husband got a payrise putting him £2k into the higher rate threshold. He has decided to put money into his pension to bring it down to meet the top of the banding. He however also earns £1000k a year in interest from savings. How does this affect him? Does the £1k count as income and therefore…

YBS Savings Accounts
Anyone know/understand why YBS let you get accounts but stop you from depositing until they complete checks? (Even if you already with them?). Like applied for a 5.75% one earlier, shows account details in app. Trying to get my head around why they would give me the account if they need to do checks.

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

S&S ISAs - do platforms tend to remember and exclude those who've had previous cashback/referrals?
Hi all, A lot of incentivised current account switches more commonly now limit eligibility in some way when a switch reward has been received before. I was wondering if this tends to also be the case with the investing platforms that offer cashback/bonuses/referral deals? I have a S&S ISA with ii - I've seen their referal…

Plum problems
Been happily using Plum for auto saving for several years. Save over £5k with no issues. I recently (22nd June) moved some money from one Plum account to another to then move to my current account. The money left plum account B and is showing in plum account A but has not cleared. I've contacted Plum 3 times now and each…

Different dividend values for same Vanguard Acc on Fidelity/Trustnet websites
For GB00BD3RZ582 (Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap Index Acc GBP), I was looking at the dividend rates on Fidelity and Trustnet websites. Fidelity gives 2023: 3.2205, 2022: 3.0266. Trustnet gives: 2023: 3.202713, 2022: 3.031119. So, for 2023, even with rounding, one says 3.22, the other 3.20. The 2022 rates also differ (3.026…

Dumping IFA portfolio to go DIY
I have casually lurked on this forum for quite a while but never felt I had a need to ask anything..but now I think I have. Been with an IFA for 7 years and in that time a largely Dimensional fund dominated pf on the Nucleus platform has evolved into what I’ll post below. All our equity pf is now within ISA wrappers and…

Investment query
Later this year I will come into an inheritance (around 250k). I'd really like to make this work for me to make the rest of my life more comfortable and I'm wondering what my options could be. I'm approaching 60 and I don't have much of a pension apart from state pension when the time comes, so in a way this will replace…

Janus Henderson online ID verification
I have had ISAs invested with Janus Henderson for many years. Today I received a letter asking me to submit ID for verification - usual stuff, passport or driving licence plus address ID.
