The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

Notice of interest rate reduction on notice accounts
I've got a 95 day account with RCI Bank still paying a generous 5.6%, although not for too much longer. Their summary box says "The interest rate is variable, and we can change the rate of interest on existing accounts by giving you at least 109 days’ notice" I have a 90 day account with Oxbury which says "Oxbury can make…

Minimising time out of market when switching investments
Hi all, The time has come to move my AJ Bell LISA investments into ETFs to cap the fees. There's about £16k in in HSBC FTSE All-World Index C Acc. Hi there. I have a SIPP with Fidelity in the UK. To my disappointment I have found that I am only able to invest in UK stocks and ETFs from this product. Personal savings allowance and staying out of higher rate tax band
I hope someone can help. My husband got a payrise putting him £2k into the higher rate threshold. He has decided to put money into his pension to bring it down to meet the top of the banding. He however also earns £1000k a year in interest from savings. How does this affect him? Does the £1k count as income and therefore…

Hi there. I'm trying to work out how to balance savings between myself and my partner for the 24/25 tax year to ensure that neither of us go into the higher rate tax bracket on our savings interest. I currently make quite a large contribution each month to my pension via salary sacrifice. So which figure do I use to work…

Opting out of SERPS
I have recently looked at my pension forecast where it confirmed that I did indeed opt out of Serps. However, I have no idea where this pot is held. The company I worked for at the time went into liquidation and I don’t know what happened to the fund. Or indeed, where it was held. How do I trace where this pot is.

YBS Savings Accounts
Anyone know/understand why YBS let you get accounts but stop you from depositing until they complete checks? (Even if you already with them?). Like applied for a 5.75% one earlier, shows account details in app. Trying to get my head around why they would give me the account if they need to do checks.

S&S ISAs - do platforms tend to remember and exclude those who've had previous cashback/referrals?
Hi all, A lot of incentivised current account switches more commonly now limit eligibility in some way when a switch reward has been received before. I was wondering if this tends to also be the case with the investing platforms that offer cashback/bonuses/referral deals? I have a S&S ISA with ii - I've seen their referal…

Different dividend values for same Vanguard Acc on Fidelity/Trustnet websites
For GB00BD3RZ582 (Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap Index Acc GBP), I was looking at the dividend rates on Fidelity and Trustnet websites. Fidelity gives 2023: 3.2205, 2022: 3.0266. Trustnet gives: 2023: 3.202713, 2022: 3.031119. So, for 2023, even with rounding, one says 3.22, the other 3.20. The 2022 rates also differ (3.026…
