Would this be a reasonable plan (ILG ladders, ISA/SIPP income etc)?
Looking at the positive yields (atm) on ILG across the yield curve I have been thinking about building a ladder to take me to age 75 with a view to perhaps buying an annuity at this point. After checking through previous years spending I am happy that £36k pa (cpi adjusted) would more than cover my spending needs. My…

Inheritance

Finalising my Power of Attorney(s)
I hope no-one minds too much that I'm posting on this board. It's the one I'm most familiar with, and when I search I've found that LPAs pop up on many different ones anyway. I decided to prepare both types - Finance and Health - for the 3 people in my household, so 6 in all. Spouse and myself, plus adult child, all with…

Any point in staying with Hargreaves Lansdown for my ISA? Trading212 looks cheaper
If you read Stocks & shares ISAs: find the best platform - MSE (moneysavingexpert.com), it has trading212 under "Lower fees, but less established platforms", and HL under "Higher fees, but more established platforms". Does how established a platform is really matter? You investments are ring-fenced anyway. All I want to do…

CMC invest transfer cashback
Hi Had a email from the above offering 1000 pounds cashback for transfers of 100k into their app based plans . Must be held for 12 months and I can't see any charges for its basic plan. Not sure on range of etfs or tracker funds on there so what's the catch seems easy way to get a nice bonus. Anybody using these ?

What are our top building societies doing?
IIRC Britannia BS, a failing mutual, took over the Co-op Bank and failed again. Now Coventry BS, a successful mutual, is proposing to take over the mess Britannia created. Nationwide is proposing to take over Virgin Money. Neither BS knows what they are doing. They should stick to their knitting. No votes for members - so…

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top EA discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10 available to open & manage online Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is to ONLY…

Kroo transferring direct debits from another account and cheques
I have a current account with TSB which is getting no interest. Looking on MSE Kroo seems to be offering the best interest for a stand alone current account, but two things are putting me off a little. No Current Account Switching Service. How are people moving their direct debits over? Do you really have to contact…

Bed & ISA
I’ve got shares in 3x companies, two running at a loss and 1 doing well. Over all I’ve got approx £7500 in value which I’m only a few hundred quid in profit. The shares are at a loss are £4200 and 500, the gain is £5000. The question I have is do the losses negate any possible CGT on the gain? when moving shares of this…

Move ISA to a Better Rate

Matioli Woods have a deposit charge and then monthly charge for investing with them. Is this usual practice? I thought most investment companies made an annual charge.

VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Tax on interest income
Hello. I want to ask here as it's full of knowledgeable people and having checked HMRC website and internet in general, I couldn't find the answer. The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…
