Timer and/or thermostat
Hi Currently overnight we just turn down the thermostat way down as far as it goes and turn it back up in the morning. Would we use less gas if we also set the timer to switch off overnight? In other words, does simply turning right down the thermostat use any more gas than setting the timer to switch off overnight? Thanks

My gas bill has just arrived and my usage based on Kwh is 20% higher then this time last year and 35% higher then the year prior to that. I was expecting a reduction or at least it be the same. Log burner stove pipe technical question
My log burner is in an ingle nook (250 yr old cob and thatch property) The stove pipe was about 2 metres long into a 1 metre square chimney (narrowing to about 1/2 metre square at the top - at about 10 metres) I recently discovered the stove pipe had been halved in length - probably when a chimney sweep dislodged the top…

What size electric panel heaters?
My first post so hope it is in the right place. We live in a 2 bed purpose built (about 1964) flat, 1st floor and double glazed.
