ISA vs Fixed Rate Savings?
Dear all I have a moderate amount of savings and each year I have been dutifully using up my cash ISA allowance. Now I see that the cash ISA rates have plummeted, in many cases below what I can get for a 1 year fixed bond. What do I do? If I take the money out of the ISA's then the allowances (for several previous years)…

Icesave ISA into Marks and Spencer ISA?
I’m thinking of putting my Icesave ISA into the Marks and Spencer Advantage cash ISA. Has anyone on here done that? I’m not sure if I need to apply to invest a lump sum and send the ISA certificate, or to transfer an ISA. I thought it would be the transfer option but that form has section for the name, address and…

Hi Both the wife and I have been paying in to Stocks & Shares ISAs for years now, hers with the Co-op and mine with the Halifax (I know, I know...). Calculating Interest
I have an ISA pay 3% fixed until 2010 with £3400 in it and wondered what formula I can use in excel to work out the interest. It's caculated daily and credited monthly. I just did 3400*0.03/12 = £8.50pm - is this roughly right, or is there a better way of doing it.

Do you lose interest during an isa transfer?
I filled a transfer form on the 9th Feb to transfer my Halifax Isa to Yorkshire BS. On the 13th, Halifax returned my passbook and told me a cheque has been sent to my new provider. Today I received a letter from YBS querying my national insurance number as they do not seem to match from my records with Halifax. I am just…

ISA season is upon us - predictions?
Now is the time of year when publicity about ISAs reaches its maximum. There's lots of talk about not missing out in the press, and bank ISA departments are usually really busy. In previous years about now various banks wheeled out juicy cash ISA offers for new money only (eg Barclays' and Lloyds' 6.5% in the last two…

A&L launches new ISA with catches
https://www.emoneyfacts.co.uk/news/news-search.aspx?newsarticleid=182779 Couldn't find any more information yet (e.g. on A&L's own site) but wanted to check that this isn't against ISA regulations. I thought that ISA rules meant you couldn't offer an ISA with a savings account tie-in (e.g. A condition like: £3600 into an…

Sorry if this has already been answered but there is so much information on here I have not been able to find the answer. This is quite simply because I…

What S&S ISA options are available to me?
Hello, I have a fixed rate ISA with Halifax to which I added all £3.6K at the time of opening it (mid-April 2008). I was looking (out of curiosity) at Co-op's S&S ISA options. The Co-op website has an "ISA Quick check tool". This asks me the following: Have you contributed to a Cash ISA or Stocks and Shares ISA for the…

Putting allowance in Share ISA without investing right away?
Hi, Sorry if this has been answered already but I haven´t found it straight away in the hundreds of posts on this thread. My basic question is: I´ve still got around GBP 1,600 to make to my Share ISA this tax year. That said, I wonder if I can just transfer this amount to my account (with selftrade) but not buy any shares…

Is my ISA safe in Legal and General
I'm possibly asking a stupid question but I'm worried. I have quite a bit of money tied up in a Legal and General All Share tracker. Now it's fair to say its tanked in the last 12 months but I didn't want to touch it. With the L&G share price also tanking do I risk losing my savings if they go belly up or am I worrying…

wait til April to transfer?
transfer now or wait until April? I have a cash ISA with about 9000 in it (I've used up the 2008-9 £3600 allowance and the rest is from previous years). It hasn't got the best interest rate so I am looking to transfer it but I haven't got any more allowance this year. Most ISAs I've looked at don't seem to JUST do…

ISA or Pay Off Credit Cards?
I was fortunate enough to have my ISA investment rescued when Icesave went down. Intially, looking for a new ISA investment but just not trusting any financial institution right now my husband has suggested that in this econimic climate, it is better to be debt free than have savings. An old fashioned girl, I like the…
