Yogurt without a starter
I started off a batch of yogurt yesterday and only this morning when I was looking in the fridge for something did I realise that I forgot to put the starter in. But then when I looked at the ones I've made it has still worked, even without the starter. So it begs to ask, do you actually need one? All useful posts will be…

Need the opinion of OS-ers
Guys, I've posted a thread here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=228898 about virtual wedding invitations because we can't afford real cards and plus I think it's a huge waste of money and paper. I could do with some honest opinions on what you would think if you received a virtual invitation since OS…

Longevity of a breadmaker
Hi there I have been reading the bread making thread, and noticed a couple of people saying that their panasonic stopped giving them decent loaves after about 4 months. This is kinda scary, as for £80 I would hope that it would last at least a year or two - my last one lasted four, but wasn't used all that much (the bread…

How long can you freeze meat for?
Hi all OK, we've been through the use by date theories, so what about freezing stuff? I notice that if you buy "fresh" prepacked meat at the supermarket it says suitable for home freezing, and usually use within one month. I've got some stewing steak in my freezer that has been there getting on for a year (slapped wrist…

Help - completely dusted in...
I dust our whole flat once a week. I usually use a wet cloth and wipe everything including the blinds. But because we live on one of the busiest roads in Hackney and only have single glazing (took me weeks to get used to the noise at night...) I get soooo much dust in all the time. We have no carpets, but wooden flooring,…

Garlic Bread issue
I always get Iceland garlic bread, I always follow the instructions, but when I take them out of the oven after cooking the wrapper always melts even when I follow instructions, and the garlic bread isn't cooked, I never really put it back in the oven, fear that the wrapper will melt onto bread, or cook without the wrapper…

Bilberries
For the first time in years I went bilberrying up on the moors this evening. Got sufficient for 1 and 1/2 pies fairly quickly. Would have collected more but the bushes were soon in the shade and I hadn't taken a jumper. I love the taste of bilberry pie. My mum always made one for my birthday. Definately going back…
