Barclaycard changing their mind about credit limit increase
I had an email from Barclaycard a couple of months ago saying they were going to increase my credit limit - not something I had requested or for which I have any immediate need, but no problem. But have just received a further email saying: After running some final checks, including a review with the Credit Reference…

Strange issue with credit card verification texts...
This is a strange situation that I've never encountered before and cannot find any useful info on tinternet. I'm hoping someone in MSE land may know what's happened, as it's worrying me slightly. Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this. We've recently had a new credit card - I am the main cardholder, my husband is…

Transfer Time Period
Thinking of getting a capital one balance transfer card, I’ve been offered 0% on balance transfers for 6 months, does the 0% deal start as soon as you get the card or when you make the transfer, do you have a specific time period to start the transfer once you receive the card?.

Hello, I opened a Santander edge up credit card recently for day to day spending as there is 2% cash back. I got the first statement on 15th March, paid it that day and got my cash back. I checked today and the payment shows, my current balance is less but there is still a minimum payment showing by 10Th April. If I click…

Getting another credit card
I have to do purchases on behalf of another person and wanted to keep it all separate from my own finances so got a Monzo Flex credit card. I don’t like it! I do have a Monzo account purely for the saving pots, so I thought it would be simple to keep it separate but I’m just totally confused by it. i have two credit cards…

Travelling/credit card/car hire!
Afternoon! My wife and I sold our houses and left our jobs to go travelling, leaving the UK in February. When we are in Costa Rica (May) ideally we would like to hire a car, and don't have a credit card at the moment. I hadn't thought about this - and everywhere says you need one. We've got a really good amount of money…

Section 75 for a payment via a third party
Hi all, I’ve a nasty feeling I’ve been caught out by some cowboy builders and wondering where I stand. The contract includes a number of staged payments throughout the work, a deposit followed by several smaller payments. total cost is £8750 and the deposit was £2800. Their push was to have the whole thing paid by bank…

Cost-free loan on card?
Last week I booked a cancellable hotel room on hotels.com and paid on my card. A couple of days later I needed to cancel it. It seems to be that the refund will post on my next card statement as a credit, which will 'pay' for last month's other debits on the bill, while the payment to the hotel, showing on the same…

Pulse (ex Amazon) credit card, updated conditions
The new conditions state ‘Interest will now be charged from the date a transaction is made. If you only use your account for purchases and repay your balance in full each month, this change won’t affect you’ I’m not entirely sure I understand what they are saying as the second bit seems to directly contradict the first…

Section 75 claim for split consumer/business payment
I bought a car which turned out to be a bit of a lemon and not as described on several counts. I paid the deposit on my personal credit card and the balance by direct bank transfer from a business account; the car was to be owned by the business and I will use it as a company car with BIK payments due etc. Given that the…

John Lewis Credit Card Interest
Hi there, new here so please forgive me if I am repeating someone else. I have a John Lewis (new day) card and use it to the tune of approximately £2k every month for all our expenses. Nationwide increasing credit card interest rate by 50%
Ouch, I have just received a letter from Nationwide saying that they are increasing my credit card interest rate by a whopping 50%. I have a members-only card that I have had for a good number of years, and until now it was charging a fair and not unreasonable interest rate of 9.9%, which was perfectly reasonable for the…

Tesco Credit Card payment

Just making I don't get charged interest on next statement. I know Barclaycard allows refunds and takes that off as payment. I am not…

Transferring funds from a PlusNet reward card
Hi all, I've recently signed up to plusnet and have been given a plusnet reward card. I'd rather have the 65 quid in my bank account to help pay off a 0% Overdraft I used to pay an unexpected demand for fees from my PhD. However I can't seem to find away to do it. The terms of the card say I can't withdraw cash from it at…
