Direct Debit 8% increase
I have just received revised Direct Debit payment notice from Seven Trent Water (STW). This seemed to be higher than expected so I requested from them a complete breakdown of their calculations. In the reply from STW there is an 8% increase in charges for inflation backdated to August 2007, my last bill date. When…

I've just discovered that our water provider (Severn Trent) have a water consumption monitoring project (http://www.stwater.co.uk/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.3251) which doesn't effect your bill (you can be on a flat rate or a meter) and pays £30 when you sign up and a further £25-£35 per annum thereafter! They fit a gizmo…

Where is my water meter?
Here's a question for you, where is my water meter? Until quite recently I lived in a purpose built block of 22 flats, lived there for ten years. The water was on a meter and I got bills, with meter readings every three months. I never thought about it, just paid the bills, but when I got the last bill I got to thinking…

help fitting/choosing a shower - what to do??
Dear all, I moved into a terrace house, split in two (converted two flats). For a few months now I have given some serious thought about a shower. I get on quite well with my neighbour next door, and asked her about a shower. She said it would not be viaable as these terrace houses have no water pressure, and myself and…

Huge surface water charges
I'm hoping someone can advise me on this. We moved to this house last January, from a house of a similar size, but this one has a larger garden. Our last house was only a few years old so was metred. This one was built on 1960's but the previous owners had a metre installed. Our water usage is about the same as with the…

My annual bill in my previous home was £400 and now it's £390 a quarter. I haven't used a hose pipe, don't have a garden sprinkler, a pond or a pool and…

Southern Water
Hi everyone, I was horrified to learn recently that SW have deliberately misled OFWAT resulting in higher charges for their customers. SW apparently were fined, but this does not help its customers. Does anyone know if its customers are due a refund or should we insist on a refund? Not that it will do any good!! I'd be…

Southern Water - Guaranteed Service Scheme £140 refund agreed
I had to query my annual water bill with Southern Water as a spurious brought forward amount was on my bill. I contacted them originally back in March. After 3 attempts at contact and no response I referred my complaint to the Water Council who pushed it through to HO. Still no response so back to Water Council who said it…

The agents can't seem to confirm as they say that these questions need to be asked by my solicitor. As I haven't yet put in an offer and don't want to incurr charges from a solicitor at this…

Standing Charge - S.E. Water
I get my metered water bill from South East Water every 6 months. It used to always charge me for water usage for the past 6 months, and a standing charge for the forthcoming 6 months. This has changed with the bill I have just received in that the standing charge is for the next 12 months. It's a bit steep charging 12…

Save money on water bills: claim for reduction in sewerage standing charges...
"Claim for reduction in sewerage standing charges in respect of water drainage." A bit of a mouthfull, but this is how my water company, Southern Water, describes it. I understand that most properties built since the 70s have a "soakaway", which holds some drainage water. HOWEVER! most water companies add a charge to your…

Plumbing and Drainage Cover - Homeserve
Is it actually worth having this? We have just got a letter from our local Water company saying that our free 3 months trial has come to an end, and we can sign up if we want to. Is it like any other insurance where if you put a claim in they find all sorts of ways to get out of paying up?

Consumption was 112m3 which equates to 863 litres per day. We were on holiday for a week during this period. There are two of us, no kids. We each shower…
