Critical Illness Claim - how long to process?
I submitted a Critical Illness Claim to Legal & General at the mid-January 2024. I spoke to someone at their call centre in February and they said it should be processed by the beginning of March. The web portal just says 'under review' and I've just been informed they give themselves 9 working days to make a call back.…

Home insurance claim
Hi I am contemplating a cash settlement for a flood claim. It happened four months ago and the property is still being dried. Reinstatement work by the insurers appointed contractors may not be completed until this autumn, hence looking at a cash settlement and using local contractors. The cash settlement offer is low for…

Artwork for Insurance
Hi I've been given a piece of Artwork sadly that may be worth more than the single item allowance on my home insurance. I think I need to get it valued? I understand there are services where I can send photos in and get a valuation back? Is this suitable for insurance? If not, what is?? Thanks in advance .

online car quote via MSE insurance tool - result changes by the minute?
Strange! You need to pick your time of day to get a car quote as results vary? Just used the MSE car insurance quote tool and it appears to only show MoneySupermarket result, of which Swinton was cheapest. So far, so good as was lower than my existing renewal quote. However, it is a while since I used the MSE tool, so was…

100% inflation - approximately.
O.A.P. here with no points convictions, accidents, really handsome :| etc. Direct line increases my premium from £320 to £595. (Mazda 6 ). On appeal reduces it by £100:00 trotting out the usual garbage. Casting around the MSE comparator tells me I can switch for a premium. £350 -£400. But why throw away the business? Just…

Opinions On Whether We Should Continue With Life Assurance Policy
Hi, Just wanted some opinions on the following: I set up a "Level Term Assurance Plan with Critical Illness Cover" joint cover for myself and my wife back in 2005, to cover part of the money owed on our house. Since then the house has long been paid off, along with all our debts plus we've got quite a decent income. This…

Pet insurance - claim or not?
Doggy had a minor op recently. Total bill £700. If we put an insurance claim in there is a 20% deduction due to age (8 years) plus the excess so would only get around £500 back. Not sure whether to claim and risk the future premium increases clawing back the £500 in no time at all. Or just suck it up and not bother…

My son has recently passed his driving test. He was insured as a provisional driver on my car. Now he has passed we asked for a quote which is just short of £3k. We are unable to afford that so have removed him from the insurance, we have 10 months left on the policy and the insurance company as not giving us any money…

Accidental Damage cover
Wonder if someone in the know can clarify - what's 'limited accidental damage' and does this add to the premium? I've never had this before but see it's been added this year to contents, without my asking for it.

Home insurance claims query
Hi all. I’m a bit confused regarding home insurance renewal. We’ve had 1 claim for storm damage 2 years ago. We had another storm damage and separate leak we spoke to the insurance company about but didn’t pursue. We’ve now come to renew and any competitive quotes we are getting are almost triple what we pay now as we are…
