A Warning About Yorkshire Bank
I dont think this warning will apply to many students that read these boards as YB has the worst student account ever, no freebies, not interest free, not much of an overdraft, but I ended up going with them as i had banked with them for years. So anyway after 3 years, and a £1500 overdraft later, i check my online…

OU - IT Courses - Grant?
Hi all, I'm due to start 2 OU courses - T175 & M150 at the end of Sep / early Oct. Due to being in receipt of income based JSA, my fees have been paid and I've been told that I'll receive the £250.00 course grant. From their website however, and elsewhere on the web, I've read that they also offer an extra £250.00 on top…

Back to uni sick feeling
I am having that back to uni sick feeling already. The idea of going back to a place I hate and a place I feel I do not belong at. It does not sound bad until I think of the stupid books I will have to read and writing stupid essays. I will cope somehow, but it just gives me a nasty feeling inside.

Science degrees and buying text books
I just wonder if it was the same in the sciences as it is in the Arts where you have to buy a 30-40 text book for each module? That is the one great problem there is in most courses written in the Arts that the set texts you need to buy are too expensive for a lot of students to afford.

Writing a PhD research proposal

The methodology? Well,…

Could anyone please tell me whether my household (me, my working husband and 2 very small children) will be able to get 25% off Council Tax when I start my PGCE? I've been searching for an answer but can't find one! It would make such a difference to us financially that it seems too good to be true!
