i have been thinking about converting my flat kitchen roof into a mini garden what fruit and veg do people think would fall in to the low mantainance catagory as shimmying up the ladder on a daily basis to water them would not be possable.

Can someone please help me re: broccoli

Just went into a garden centre who had a voucher usable in January .The offer is on Thompson and Morgan seeds-buy any 2 packets of vegetable /fruit seeds-get the third free.Are t & m seeds ok-or are they a lot more expensive.Got to compile my list of what I want the next few days.

Enviromesh or net curtains
I have had my spring cabbage covered with old net curtains for some months as we suffer from pigeons on our allotments. The cabbages seem to be progressing well. Could I use net curtains instead of enviromesh, which seems very pricey, to protect other plants?
