KitchenAid owners please help!
We have wanted one of these lovely looking mixers for a while but simply couldn't afford the £420ish to get one. I was looking around and managed to find a seller on eBay that shipped refurbished units with 6 months warranty from the USA for nearly half price. The feedback was excellent and it was a company that I could…

Christmas/birthday present ideas for a 3 year old girl
I have been making a start on a list of presents for our little girl and have got quite a few ideas but would really appreciate any suggestions people might have for things to get her. She turns 3 on New Years Day so there will be 2 lots of gifts given over Xmas/New Year. I think she is still too young to get much use out…

Sheffield University is conducting research by offering new mums up to £200 to breastfeed their child. Financial incentive for breastfeeding mothers As breastfeeding's already a MoneySaver compared to buying formula would payment have encouraged you more? If you haven’t joined the forum yet but want to join in you can join…

Maternity entitlements?! Child benefit etc?!
Hi there Can somebody advise me what a typical working class married couple are entitled to when they have children and when they can apply? We don't earn less than £20k a year each so I don't think we're entitled to much but I'm sure every child gets child benefit and I'm expecting twins early next year so want to…

Work and Preschool Hours
How do you juggle it? I could ask Nan's to pick DS up. Or I could ask work for shorter hours. but each option has downfalls so I wondered what you do? The final option is to leave him in nursery till Primary School but the hours are almost similar then too!

Maternity Pay - confused?
Wife works for NHS and has done for about 12 years. I understand she gets more than SMP but that you don't get SMP as well as salary (i.e. employer takes this). But here is the policy (probably same for everyone in NHS). OK. Assuming for the sake of argument she gets £1000/month. Works part-time. Does this matter? 8 weeks…

Can I get payment breaks when just SMP starts?
Hi I am the main breadwinner in the family and most of the household bills go out from my wages. Around or just after Christmas I will only be bringing in SMP and this won't even cover the rent and means we need to make up the rest and find money for our other bills from my partners wages, he currently is paying the…

No toys or blankets in allowed in cot as they can cause cot deaths?
I recently went to New York to visit my son daughter in law and 18th month old grand daughter. I took with me a hand crocheted cot blanket. My dil has previously turned down cot "bumpers" as a safety risk and now she told me that the latest advice from US paediatricians was that there should be no blankets or toys in a…

Giving expressed breastmilk question
Hi all! I'm a first time mum with a seven week old baby. Over the past couple of days I've expressed enough milk ready for my husband to give tonight so that I can hopefully get a lovely four or five hour stretch of sleep. Only thing I can't figure out is if I'm asleep for this long when I'd normally be feeding, will my…
