One way to help stop Credit Card Fraud...?
A simple idea really! Rub a magnet along the magnetic strip of the card. This destroys the information on the strip. This means that it can only be used in places accepting chip and pin, or the shop/restaurant will have to manually key in the card details where they have not yet implemented chip and pin technology. A minor…

Egg stitchup?
Can't see this anywhere on the forum, sorry if already posted. Egg appear to now be treating balance transfer fees as purchases. In other words, as you're enjoying their money, their fee is earning them interest. http://www.everyinvestor.co.uk/timArticles/tim_752_120_.asp Other providers mentioned are Lloyds TSB, MBNA and…

MINT card - worth asking for a credit limit increase?
Hi, Would be interested to hear others' views on this. I was recently accepted for a (standard) Mint card. The credit limit is just over £3k, not bad at all, but not quite as much as I was hoping for. However, I recently reviewed my credit file and discovered that a Sainsbury's card account I closed a couple of months back…

My 0% offer is due to finish shortly. I have a balance of £13K to pay off. My bank says the maximum online debit card payment I can make on the Egg site is 1K or the maximum BACS transfer is 5K. How long to leave between applying for cards?
I've got a decent credit history, but applied for new 0% cards in Sept as my free period was ending. I then applied to Capital One to transfer the remaining balance and was declined - this has…

Paying Off Minimum Monthly Payments
At the moment, I am currently paying off the minimum amount on my credit card with monthly direct debits. The payments go out at the beginning of the month. However, I've been led to believe that if I was to make payments by a certain date every month, I would pay less interest. Is this right?
