Most Tax Efficient Gilt Today
What is the most tax efficient Gilt available today, for the shortest length of time? I basically want to store some money until the new tax year, as I have maxed out premium bonds, and I am getting taxed 40% on what I am earning above the £500 interest.

Premium bonds for child with learning difficulties
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum so hopefully you'll cut me a bit of slack if I don't get things right. I'm hoping that one or more of you experienced with premium bonds will be able to help. I have a very severely mentally disabled grand nephew to whom I'd like to give a gift of premium bonds so that he will have his…

Vanguard portal change, now doesn't give units or price per unit?
Just logged on this morning and the portal now no longer shows the number of units you hold or the value per unit, it just shows an overall value which is really not helpful if you hold multiple funds. Does anyone know where to find this info, without having to generate a portfolio valuation each time I want to update my…

Moving to Vanguard to save on investment fees
I am a novice when it comes to investments so have relied on a financial advisor to date. I have a pot of around £200k split between a stocks and shares ISA and SIPP. Recent review of costs are working out at 2.1% which seems high in comparison to the Vanguard Life Strategy portfolio. I’m inclined to move but obviously…

Hi, has anybody tried to close the Ulster loyalty saver account? I have not been able to access the amount of the accrued interest and have not been able to find an option to close the account. Inflation, Interest Rates, yield curves, instant vs fixed rate savings & gilts
Sharp fall in inflation today to 3.4% & IIUC expected to fall further over the next couple of months as the energy cap reduction takes effect. Despite the slightly hawkish rhetoric from the MPC I think it's unfathomable that they'll keep rates high for much longer. I think they'll cut soon and in at least 0.5% chunks. My…

Short Term Gilts
I'm trying to wrap my head around gilts in an unwrapped account. Let's say I have £100K so I buy £100K of TN24. The coupon is 0.125% so for every £100K of TN24 that I buy at "par" I have I make a massive £125. But I'm not paying "par" price for the gilt I'm paying less (around £97.70 as of today) so there's a capital gain…

What to do with £250,000
I'm looking for some starter advice on how to best increase the value, over the medium to long term (around 12 to 18 years), of £250,000 (part inheritance, part bonus / savings). I'm not sure whether it's worth seeking IFA for this amount of money or whether Financial Advisors are more for people with a lot more money than…

Savings rate drop
Hi, my Santander easy access savings account has just dropped its interest rate by 1% to 4.2%. Manually pay tax on interest
Hello all, I can't get through to HMRC and wondered if anyone knows the answer. I've gone over the £1,000 personal savings allowance as some recent savings account interest was over this amount. Is it possible to pay the tax owed on this as a one-off manual payment (eg with a debit card) rather than them changing my tax…
