Hurray! remortgage gone through on time
Yay, remortgage has gone through on time despite me having to send offer back 3 times because it was incorrect. Having used up quite a lot of savings making a 9% overpayment on the old mortgage, I can now start to make regular overpayments on my new mortgage. My aim is to overpay by 10% (as there are charges when…

offset mortgage
what would happen if ..... you had an offset mortgage account with a bank with the mortgage being £80K and you had £60K in the offset account and the bank went into administration. Savings are only guaranteed upto £35K Would you lose £25K (ie £60k -£35k) while still being liable for the whole mortgage?

Hi, any advice on how to get rid of this burden asap! Even though it is small compared to most it makes me feel ill thinking about it. Whoop, whoop! I am going to start overpaying!
Until recently I've been a SAHM. But I have now taken on some part time temp (poss permanent) work. We manage fine on just DH's salary alone, so after nursery fees I've got at least £200 per month spare. Now of course I've treated myself a little, and what I've earned so far is going to pay for blinds for our new…

Equity releae /'lifetime mortgage'

does paying off your mortgage affect your credit rating
Hi there I have always been a MFW and have been over-paying each month in order to achieve this. My father died recently and this now means that the estate left will be enough for us to completely pay off the mortgage should we wish to. DH and I both want to but have a feeling that we have read somewhere that you should…

Is now a bad time to overpay?
I have been overpaying my mortgage for almost two years now, thanks to this site and all the encouragement from its super forum users. Last year alone my wife & I managed to overpay £2100. With the uncertainty over the economy and rising inflation, I'm wondering if overpaying is such a good idea right now. Perhaps the…

Have some MFW done the wrong thing?
We haven’t moved due to a belief that the housing market was well and truly over priced, and so have focused on paying off the mortgage on the house we have Strikes me that with credit being harder to come by and possible higher inflation, without a reduction in house prices guaranteed, trying to pay off the mortgage may…
