Should I be expecting more from my investments
Hi,I have an EQ ISA (Positive Impact Cautious Plus) and have about £45k in it. I have had the account since Dec 20 and pay in £500 per month. On top of that, I have paid in two lump sums of £10,000ish in mid-2021 and mid-2022. Overall my profit is sat at negative £500, ie I've made a loss over that period. I was expecting…

Cashing a foreign cheque in the UK
I have a cheque in Thai Baht I need to cash. I have confirmed I can cash it with my bank, but it will take 6-8 weeks to clear and they can't confirm the rate as it will be set on the clearing date. I'm pretty sure it wont be the best rate out there either. Any idea of other options to safely cash a GBP five figure foreign…

Where to start with stock market tracker funds?
Hello there. i would like to research and identify a suitable stock market tracker fund into which I can invest £100 a month. I have recently come across a share certificate for Glow communications from 2000 , and all I know is that the company has been wound up. Does this mean that the certificate and shares are subsequently worthless and this will be a “lost” investment

Savings interest rate help please!
Hi, so I opened a children's savings account which had an interest rate of 5.50% for 12 months, interest paid on maturity of the account. It has just matured and I can't figure out if I'm going wrong somewhere (maths isn't my strong point!) There was £770 after 12 months and they've paid £22 interest? Tried a calculator…

Profits from trading/crypto/trading, how are they taxed?
My assumption is that profits from stocks/crypto/trading are free from CGT as long it's within the £20K per year limit in an ISA? If you max out the ISA allowance it will count as a personal income so it will be taxed normally? Please correct me if I'm wrong

Helping Mum plan to reduce exposure to Tax on Savings Interest - thoughts invited
Hi, this is my first post here. It is primarily to do with savings and tax on interest, although there are also elements of inheritance and mortgage about it too, so I hope I’ve posted it in the correct place. Also, sorry for such a long post. I appreciate it covers a lot of ground and I’m sure it looks a bit “amateur…

Who to turn to
I divorced late in life and, regrettably, allowed my husband to manage out money. That has left me with 2 problems: one that I only have a small amount of capital and two that I am owefully ignorant about investing. My instinct is to turn to financial advisors but they take one look at my small amounts and basically say…
