Mrs SD, impressed by decorating. I had aimed for my house being decorated this Autumn, but best laid plans. Almost no decluttering today, busy with work, but 2 admin frogs 1752 -1753
Hi all, just popping in to say major frog completed today, and it's not even friday . I had been waiting for a phone call with some information and I got it today so I completed the online form while I had the person on the line. It will take about 4 weeks to process apparently but unless there is a quiery my part is done. I also had a lovely chat with my nephew who is helping me sort out a significant birthday present for a friend and did a small sm shop. I have also tracked down a phone number for a chimney sweep as my last sweep has retired but it was too late to call today so that is on the list for tomorrow. Also on my list is a phone call to my phone and internet provider as I had a visit today from "someone", neighbour and I couldn't quite get to the bottom of where he was from exactly, but he told us we have had a superfast fibre put into the area so should either have faster internet or reduction in our bills, he seemed to think we should both be renewing our contracts and asking for a better deal. It was a bit confusing as we have different providers but he had loads of information on his phone about various packages etc. Luckily neighbour and I are very good friends as I had been a bit slow to get to the door and he had moved on to next door so ended up talking to us both at the same time. The whole thing was a bit odd but he didn't seem to be trying to get us to change providers or sell us anything, just give us some information, is this a new type of scam I kept asking myself but a phone call tomorrow might sort it out. All in all I am pleased with today though still lots to be done. Everyone seems to be making progress and I particularly liked the advice from Siebrie as I seem to lose the will when looking at my areas of doom so will try to put that advice into action Take care everyone
Liverpool_Anne It sounds like a scam to me, very few people would go from door to door out of the goodness of their heart. But I await to hear what you find out!
I have a big bag of stuff to start sorting through later today, I will report on my progress later!
I have been awake since 4,gave up on sleep at 5 and went downstairs.
I made a chocolate orange reindeer and a Christmas Party brussels sprout to take to craft club for ideas for fundraising for the young lad. Both have been red hot sellers previously at the school I used to work at.
I have given the Birthday drawers a third coat of paint. I have spent hours yesterday and today knitting and unravelling and knitting etc etc with some difficult knobbly wool that I was given. Enough time wasted I will give it to the chazzer.
I could just go to sleep now, but I will be rash and get my sewing machine out to make some Halloween bags and possibly shorten my door curtain. That is one of my frogs.
The trouble with lack of sleep is I need to eat all day to keep going.

ruby_eskimo, you are very kind and brave to offer up 12 weekends to declutter a hoarded house! Prepare your parents that it will get worse before it gets better, maybe even set every other hour you're there apart to clean spaces and get rid of items (actually out of the house). Can you set them a small daily task for the rest of the month? For instance, 10 minutes a day to empty and clean half a drawer? Their bedside cabinet? Go through their med collection and check expiry dates? Take a bagful of old paper to the recycling? Find projects that will accept old glasses, tools, etc? Don't take anything of theirs to your place! Good luck!
Thanks for the advice @Siebrie I've already got a spreadsheet going with a tab for each room, and then a list of all the drawers, cupboards etc that's in there with a tick list for when they've sorted each bit but will add in some more general things like 10 minutes of sorting the paperwork etc. My dad likes a spreadsheet and he's the one who needs a little bit more encouragement so this will appeal to him, and my mum loves ticking off a list so fingers crossed it's a win win. But yes I'll be expecting them to do little bits throughout the month so that hopefully when we get there it will be more of a case of either helping them get the excess stuff out of the house (DH's job) or being a bit more realistic about what they really need to keep (my job). But you have reminded me to make a note of where we can take various types of things in their area in advance.

Hello Everyone- been away for a while. Lots of change going on in our lives at the moment. LO has started school. I have changed my hours at work. Work has been crazy busy. Grandparents have been staying for a couple of weeks.
seems like there has been a lot going on and I have several pages to catch up on! In fact it’s been so long I have fogotten how to edit my signiture!
so an appeal went out for clothing for recently arrived families from Afghanistan so I collected quite a large amount as some arrived in flip flops with only the clothes they were wearing. Then there was such a response there was no storage space in the church. So it’s been waiting for about a month until they cleared the backlog - now it’s all eventually left the house.
I also found yet even more baby items - I honestly thought I had given everything away but grandparents arrived with some things that had been left at their house pre lockdowns. Fortunately I have found new home for most of it, should be collected tomorrow .
sent some new storage boxes which have been sitting unused in the cupboard under the stairs for ages to the charity shop. Also some landline telephones still in their boxes as we only use mobile phones since we moved to this house.
I need to find a new vigour for cleaning, have been getting by doing the bare essentials for too long now and really need to do a deep clean.this morning I tidied toys put clothes away, have hoovered downstairs and cleaned the shutters and dusted in the front room.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good steam mop? I absolutely hate mopping the kitchen floor thought I might try out a steam mop….

I just went out to pick up my new glasses and listened to a podcast on the way there and back. It's quite sunny and very windy here. My hair looks a total state, lol.
When I got home I got my husband to drag out my oven, fridge, washing machine etc... so I could vacuum and clean behind them as I haven't done that in a long while. Wow. It really needed doing.
I threw away some old pet blankets today and I bought some new tea towels so I'm cutting the old ones up and using them as cleaning cloths.
My husband is going to the charity shop today to buy some teddies as dog toys so I will see if there is anything else I can get rid of so he can take it with him!:)
Great work short_bird 👏 Good luck with selling 👏 I hope you have a wonderful weekend at the opera 🙂 Can I be nosy & ask what you are seeing?
Phillip Glass, Satyagraha: minimalist composition and about the life of Gandhi, nearly 3 hours with 2 20 minute intervals. I used to go to Opera North on a regular basis when I lived in Nottingham but that was a while ago and their repertoire didn't include a lot of minimalist work - does mean I've seen Carmen and Showboat amongst others. Arriving Saturday, staying till Monday and have booked a hotel close to the venue.
Back later, going to collect my freshly cleaned records.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans, no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas.
13-15/52 - having some roof work done. Roofer advised that we should use the skip they'd hired for anything else we wanted to get rid of. We'd just gutted our utility so made good use of the space offered for all sorts of wood frames and cupboards!

Thanks everyone for good wishes !
