Cheery, I also think that the kitchen floor looks great
Yes, reading your lists is exhausting, I'm glad that tomorrow's looks a bit more manageable (depending on how well you get on with the out-laws, of course!).
I have to admit that my OH is very good at getting things done (don't think I have ever done a list for him) but, for some reason, the litter tray is always my job . . .
It's not difficult! 'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner. 'Wonder' - to feel curious.
I too had a list of jobs to do. It was between us 3 children, my younger brother always got dusting, as he was (deliberately) rubbish at everything, my sister had the hoovering and I had the bathrooms. We washed up every night and cleared the sides, and had to do our own washing. and on a Saturday in order to earn our £1 pocket money, we had to do an even longer list 🙄 we did moan, and my mum gave us our £1 as if she was giving away a million and told us how ungrateful we were 😳. Sorry went off on a tangent there!
I hope you’re enjoying a well earned drink Cheery!
We had a nice day yesterday with Mr Cheery's family, and it turned out fairly MSE as well as they insisted on paying for lunch. Home about 7, and a nice relaxing evening.
Today I've been for a walk before breakfast! I walk SO little, and went for a wander last night and it was lovely, so forced myself out again this morning. Now we're in the cafe - I put something on Freegle and rather than making the woman trek out and find us, told her we'd be in the cafe (closer to town and easy to find) until 10.30. She said yes, and it would be 10.30. This morning she messaged saying 10.40 latest... and I can just see her driving into the car park now at 10.57...
Right, nice lady has picked up our bag of opened grout 😂 Warned us that town was heaving with lots of road closures because of an event, so we didn't go. Sadly our little post office is still closed as the only member of staff is ill - at least there was a sign saying it would be open again on 31st.
I've parcelled up the swimsuit that I'm not keeping, and arranged for. Hermes collection from home. I was going to take it to the post office but the website didn't give me that option (a good job, as it turns out!)
Home again now and I'm going to do some financial things over a cuppa.
* fill in expenses claim * banks & YNAB * check Prolific amount (I tend to withdraw when it gets to £10 but I'm not sure I'm there yet) * I've had lots of texts about free spins in various casinos so I might work my way through those to ease myself back into MB.
Hey Cheery! Sounds like you’ve had a lovely couple of days. I love a walk. Me and OH often used to go out for midnight walks during lockdown, it was so quiet and peaceful. Need to start this again. Glad the freegle lady finally got to you.
I to am sat doing financial things over a cuppa. Best way to do them 😁
Yes we need to get back to more regular walking too.
Prolific is at £7.67 with nothing left to process, so I'll keep an eye out and see if I can get to £10 over the next few days.
I'm just filling in the expenses form - it's flippin annoying (which is why I keep putting it off) and doesn't even say how much mileage they pay, most vexing. 45p a mile is £84.15, 35p is £65.45, 25p is £47.75 so still a decent stash for the kitchen fund.
YNAB done and banks checked. All in order I think. Not much in the MOT pot and one due in mid October, but as I've just paid £600 for it at the service, fingers crossed there won't be anything too bad revealed at the MOT... I've allocated £250 anyway just in case.
Had an email saying I've got Tesco vouchers about to expire - not surprising as I'm not sure I've ever used any of them. So next task is to log in and check how much, and what to spend them on. Will report back (sorry if a million posts is tedious but it helps me to work through things!)
Ok. Tesco vouchers investigated. I've got £8.50, expiring on 31st August. Had a look through all the rewards partners, but none of them are things I'd be buying anyway - they're all days out, restaurants etc. RAC cover (but we already have two sets of breakdown coverage at the minute so a third seems overkill! ). Magazine subscriptions, and I was tempted by Country Living magazine... but if you buy through Clubcard, 6 months costs £29.94 (for £9.98 worth of vouchers), but if you buy through their own website, you get 12 months for that price. My £8.50 wouldn't quite cover the 6 month cost, but I could have topped it up. However, given on their own website you can get 6 months for £18, it's not the bargain they'd have you believe - and I can get free access through the library which has been perfectly adequate. I already have piles of magazines I need to sort out, I don't need to add to it!
Anyway, I've printed the vouchers off to just use on fuel/food, and transferred the £8.50 to the kitchen fund, which now stands at £3071.94.
I think that's it for financial tasks for today!
Mr Cheery has been clearing out the temporary kitchen so I can work in there from Monday. I'm still not entirely convinced it's a good idea... but my study is right in the middle of the building work, whereas this would let me be shut off in 'our' side of the house. And who knows, a change of venue might revitalise me!
I was going to do some washing today, but it's raining so I'll leave it til tomorrow night then hang it out on Monday when the sun's shining. For the rest of the day...
* washing up * tidy study * tidy bedroom * weekly home blessing hour * blog post
Urgh, there are loads of other things I COULD put on that list but I might just focus on tidying up a bit. Mr Cheery is out tonight so I'd like to do some loafing around on my own in the quiet rather than running about cleaning. And we're both out tomorrow afternoon, so it would be good to be all prepared for builders/work before we go.
Right, Mr Cheery has gone, leaving a whirlwind in his wake 😂 First gig for 18 months so of course equipment scattered everywhere, couldn't find the right clothes etc. I've got a list of podcasts, and I'm setting the timer for 20 mins in each room, moving everything that doesn't belong into the right room (but not putting it away properly) as I go.
Living room is now clean and tidy (well, as tidy as anywhere is getting at the minute with everything being in the wrong room). Still got to do
* temporary kitchen/office * bathroom * hallway (yes that counts as a separate room today as Mr Cheery has been dumping stuff on it while he prepares my office in the temporary kitchen) * actual kitchen/building site (loads of washing up, and debris from floor sealing etc) * study * offshot * bedroom * new bedroom (this just needs sweeping up the mouse droppings and rubbish that came down with the ceiling, won't take long)
20 mins each, that's... about 2.5 hours 😮 Best get going, especially if I'm going to have 5 mins sitting down after each one!
