Cheery, I think it is natural to feel a bit panicky now that, after all your planning, things are starting to happen. I think that the noise-cancelling headphones will be a very good idea, as is setting the builders up to be as self-contained as necessary.
Well done on working out how to medicate the chicken, please let me know when you graduate to cats
It's not difficult! 'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner. 'Wonder' - to feel curious.
Ha - I have very vivid childhood memories of my poor mother wrapping cats in bath towels and trying to feed them tablets by herself. Far more difficult than chickens! 😮😂 At least chickens can't spit things out 😂
Hey Cheery! I’ve just caught up! Bless you! You have so much going on! It’s not surprising you feel on the edge of panic. But you’re doing so well, as you say, one foot in front of the Other taking each day as it comes is the best plan!
Loving your ideas and super well done on the chicken tablet feeding! Although no experience with chickens, I too have had to many, many times do the same for cats. They used to eat around every scrap of their food but not touch the antibiotics, we ended up grabbing hold and thrusting it down their neck, amid much howling and scratching! So I feel for you. But great that Bessie is going to be ok. Poor Mr Cheery’s tooth! Such a palava to get these things sorted!
I’m very excited for you to get your kitchen started! 😊
Cheery - your chicken medication stories remind me of my Mom's two cats. One was docile and liked any excuse for a good cuddle, so wrapping him in a blanket & coaxing him to swallow a tablet with a treat was an easy experience. The other one however didn't like to be touched so would bite & scratch & howl through the whole process! Of course he was the one who somehow always needed medication. We never understood how two kitties from the same litter could end up with such wildly different temperaments!
My OH is much like yours when it comes to dealing with tradesmen! He refuses to have anything to do with them. We have one working here today, repointing a leaking wall, and instead of opening the door when he knocked, the OH hollared up the stairs, meaning I had to excuse myself from a video meeting & go downstairs to deal with the chap. - SIGH - these menfolk can be trying

(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)
Yes it's funny how they're all different, isn't it? And how they can detect the teensiest little bit of medicine even if they're in their favourite food.
Anyway, 11 doses down, 2 to go (we got the vet to give her the first one 😂 )
I've been swimming this morning - not making good use of the gym membership so far, only managed once a week so far in August but everything's a bit up in the air with visitors and builders so maybe we'll settle into a routine later. New swimming costume is great - maximum coverage of all areas and no signs of slippage or transparency 😁
Met Mr Cheery in the cafe, home now, Bessie's now had medicine and three of them are now in the loving room having a little nap and preen in the middle of the floor 🥰
Job for today is to finish the final bit of kitchen floor eating, then do the experimental grout, choose colours, and then do the rest of the floor. Sealant etc will arrive today so should be able to do that later.
Kitchen geezers have sent over the final plan which is good, we're only due to have one drawer, but that's fine - we're going to have a free standing dresser etc on the other side of the room so teatowels etc can go in there. In my experience drawers fill up with miscellaneous rubbish in our house anyway!
I was more concerned about the kitchen floor eating 😮😮😮!

Right - floor.
(Yes, Mr Cheery has put a selection of cushions and blankets out for them 😂 )
Good to hear about the swimming costume - no slippage or transparency is *always* good!
You're getting there and it's all sounding positive.
