Easyjet cancelled my return flight. Can I claim for unusable gig tickets and hotel?

I booked flights with EasyJet for October 2021. In addition to the flights, I have booked and paid for a hotel and gig tickets. In May 2021 (now) they suddenly cancelled our return flight (Wednesday) and there are no alternative flights available until the weekend. This means we will not be able to get back home and therefore will not be able to attend the gig.

Question 1: I know I can get a refund on the flights. Is there anyway I can claim cost of the hotel and gig tickets back from EasyJet too?

The trip was a delayed celebration for my daughter's 18th birthday so, rather than abandon the celebration, there are tickets available for an alternative gig in London and plenty of flights available. Unfortunately, London is more expensive than Liverpool, so the trip will cost more than the refunded cost of the original flight, hotel and gig tickets.

Question 2: Is there any way that I can get EasyJet to pay additional compensation so we can attend the London gig instead.

Note: I paid for Easyjet Travel insurance (Collinson Insurance), but, they have said because 'the airline' cancelled the flight we cannot claim on the insurance. They only offer protection in very very limited circumstances and are a total waste of money - Avoid!

what are the refund terms for the hotel? - I would assume anyone booking during a pandemic would book a refundable rate. If you chose a non-refundable rate have you asked the hotel if you can change the dates.
Are there any other airlines that operate the route?
Are you able to resell the gig tickets?
Whilst the world is in turmoil, flight cancellations and reschedules will continue to be common.
There is no compensation from the airline for cancellations notified more than 14 days prior to the flight.

I can change the dates, but, that won't help.

Why do you feel the need to patronise me? As I explained, I took out travel insurance, it was useless.

This really was all you needed to say. Maybe, with an 'unfortunately' at the beginning.

There is no need to attack the previous poster who gave you a response to your post. I thought his/her comments quite reasonable. If you take that attitude you may find the replies you get are either limited or short.

You refer to @Caz3121 as 'the previous poster' as if you don't know them, but, looking through your previous posts, you and @Caz3121 frequently comment on the same posts and make reference to each other's posts. By all means defend your friend, but, don't do it under false pretences.

So your destination is Liverpool: is your origin within the UK? If so you could reasonably return home by train rather than flying, or get to a nearby airport such as Manchester or even London in order to fly home.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I can't get a train home and there are no flights from Manchester. We could possibly get a boat, but, the weather is often rough in October, so I try to avoid it.

London might be an option if the train is not too expensive so thank you for your suggestion.

Advance purchase train tickets are more reasonably priced than walk-up ones, and the trainsplit website can help with finding lower fares. It is worth asking Easyjet to contribute to (or even provide) the train tickets, particularly if your flight home from London is one of theirs.
I take it that your home airport is Belfast.
