Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. My gas meter display has failed and shows nothing on the screen so I've been on estimated bills since 2nd Nov 2020. I had a date for meter replacement but it got cancelled because they said Scottish work restrictions did not allow unnecessary works only essential jobs. My fixed contract ends 29th March and the renewal is high, what rights do I have? Can I request an extension of existing contract? can I request meter replacement? Will I just have to put up with £17 per month hike on my bill? Or will I be able to move to new company without a working gas meter? Any help info would be much appreciated.

You can still switch if you want to, you would use the most recent estimated reading you have which will be vetted and adjusted if necessary by the 3rd party involved in the switching process.
It will lock in the estimated reading as 'real' though so do think about that before you switch...
