    2021 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £39,768.45 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £101,469.31 (as at 20/04/2021)
  • Sooo ... our house is sold STC  :) We have come down a bit from original asking, but we are happy with the price agreed. We are going to look at a house tomorrow, so we'll see where that takes us.

    On the money side of things, I am currently £25.50 overdrawn on the joint current account, but am expecting a £44 refund, its just a cross over of money going out quickly and refund coming back slowly. I have £138.50 owing to the credit card that I need to earn and repay. This is last minute xmas presents and poor spending decisions  :#

    Meal planning for next week and food shop done this morning (part of credit card balance).

    Money Fails
    1. Overspending and carrying a balance on the credit card.

    Money Wins;
    1. DD1 school shoes were outgrown. This year Clarks offered a guarantee that they would fit until Feb 2021, so I got a replacement pair in the next size free of charge.

    2. Signed up for a free Now TV trial, so with some microwave popcorn I added to todays shop we will have a family film night this weekend at a total cost of £1.99 for 3 packs of microwavable popcorn

    3. Had some ebay sales which have been sent out already and money used to reduce the budget haemorrhage that has taken place. 1 Item has a bid on and ends today, I have some more bits to list over the weekend. 3 Items listed on Shpock too.

    4. DD1 xmas jumper for the Save the Children xmas jumper day was from the charity shop at a grand total of £2. Comparable item from supermarket was £8-10.

  • Thanks SH & Greent  :)

    We looked at a house yesterday and are going to book a second viewing for this coming week, it feels like the next right step but a second viewing should help us make a final decision.

    In budget news, the joint account is now back to £0, so I just need to work on the credit card balance. I've done 3 surveys this morning and have 3 bundles to list for sale today. OH and I also need to complete solicitors paperwork and get that to them this week.

    Your mortgage is doing so well - I don't tend to think of you as having a CC balance. Hope it's not too big

  • Hi SH, thanks for dropping by  :)  The credit card balance would be considered trivial to some, but I've got to that stage where even £130 (that's what the balance is) stresses me out. I'm working on getting it paid off completely and forming better money habits for 2021.

    Talking of stress, our house sale fell through this morning, it seems the finances of the other party were not as 'in place' as we had thought. They have given a terrible excuse, but we're going to come offline and then relist boxing day, as apparently last year that was the busiest day for searches on right move (who knew?). We'll just see what happens. We are not being forced to sell, so are in a fortunate position to be able to find the right buyer.

    Money Wins;
    1 Ebay sale (to be posted today).
    Sticking to meal plan
    Continuing to complete surveys for extra income

  • Good Morning, I hope everyone is well x

    We're all ready for a quiet Christmas, just have to hand out 1 more set of presents tomorrow and then we're all done. We have cut back on presents this year as we just keep passing money or bath sets around, it has become giving for giving sake as opposed to something meaningful.

    So the house situation has changed again, we haven't come off the market as apparently there were people who had expressed an interest in the house, so we had 4 viewings yesterday and have 3 booked for Wednesday. So, fingers crossed we get a sale for Christmas  :)

    I have a shpock sale due to be collected today, so that will be £3 in the pot. Ebay sales have slowed so I think I will leave the rest until after xmas when people are at home and xmas day is out of the way. I will still photograph and get them ready for listing though.

    Money Wins this week;
    1. Shpock sale (£3)
    2. Refund on wrong size nappies from Grocery shop (£4.75)
    3. Used a wrapping and card for birthday gift from stash already have (gift bag recycled from DD birthday).
