Ouch! £500! I'm not surprised if he's not getting business if he doesn't listen to what people actually want. That said I wonder how all the streaming services available now affect his line of work (I assume he does things other than just aerials?) Our terrestrial aerial is on the floor in the loft, not plugged in, and neither did the previous residents have it connected either - perhaps one day I will do that just to have it done - the cabling goes down to the lounge but I've never fussed about sorting it out to connect. Thanks for the heads up about the pasties, OH will deff like them then. They are now on our meal plan for Sat evening - a bit of a CBA dinner - will serve them with beans or something I expect. Didn't actually think about the packaging but yes you're right about the lack of plastic. Locally we have a good recycling scheme which seems to accept all kinds of plastic (incl the black trays that some don't) but I'm never sure about how much really gets processed vs rejected - like when they say things need to be rinsed but not spotless....where is the line between ok rinsing and not ok? It's all a bit of a minefield.
I have just had step-gran on the phone for nearly an hour, telling me off for being too nice. For 52 minutes. What would she rather? I be a total !!!!!!? You know, sometimes the argument is not worth it. I have learnt to pick my battles. I will happily nod and smile, while mentally butchering their bodies and burying them in the local woodland. Which is the reason everyone thinks I am amazing. Apparently I am making a rod for my own back, well at least I will be the one with a rod when I go postal on everyone else. Isn't it nice to have an opinion on everything?
Pfsh! Happy flippin' Thursday.

Sorry, I disappeared for a week. Lost it to a stupid cough, and half of half term.
The budget is going really really well. It has to as dh is already stressing about the smaller pay packet in March due to the December strike action. Just as they are starting to deduct the strike pay, the new round of strikes start, yep, tomorrow. Two days this week, three days next week, four days the week after, Five days the week after if their demands are not met. The lecturers are getting annoyed with the union. The Students are getting annoyed at missing lectures, even the ones who do not attend are annoyed the lectures they miss 70% of are being cancelled. So DH has masses of students lined up to see him today 1:1 so he can talk them through what they need for their essays, point them in the right direction, and although he will not be crossing the picket line, and will be working to rule, as soon as the strike day is over he can be in touch so they don't get anxious. and they can carry on with the work they are supposed to be doing so it does not impact on their grades, because if their grades go down, feedback gets worse, the course gets a lower satisfaction rating, and the Uni gets a lower rating.. It is ridiculous.
I am loving the extra cooking at half term , dh has not been here, so he cannot kybosh my plans for using stuff up. Today a hoisin sauce jar was used up, with mock chicken, 2 tubs of leftover rice, leftover peas and corn, and randomly a 1/4 of shredded cabbage. It was lovely. Really nice, ha ha ha! I would have stuck pineapple in it too but DS2 hates cooked pineapple, and I got rid of a ys xmas pudding into the kids too.
Sometimes I focus more on getting the ys bargains into the house, and less on making sure they are used up, so this week has been great for using bits up, even if, when I went to do the fried rice and could not find the cashew nuts, so went to the peanut jar, and there were 4 peanuts in the bottom of it, looking up at me. The boys are rotten for eating my supplies! DH too for that matter. If they told me they had eaten something then I would know, and I would not be stood in the pantry going 'hmm, I am sure I had some of that, has someone moved it? or am I going mad. Yes it was there, I have a haunted pantry.
So, in case the mysterious Mr Somebody comes by again and uses stuff up, after lunch I made a vanilla sponge and a chocolate sponge that I will ice - one peanut butter icing and one chocolate icing. So hopefully that will distract them from foraging in my jam jars and eating the ingredients. I would have made scones, but Mr Somebody has eaten all the jam, and scones and lime marmalade sounds a little odd. Plus Mr Somebody has also eaten all my raisins and sultanas. Let them eat cake.
So, because of the strike, and because morale is low at work, dh and a few others of them are going out for drinks after a strategy group meeting tonight, and I can get rid of a few more odd bits out of the fridge. I think greek kebab style shredded 'not-meat', with some leftover roasted peppers, aubergine, and garlic cloves (lunch yesterday), hummus, pittas and wraps, shredded cabbage and carrots, cucumber and olives and sunblush tomatoes should feed them nicely, and make a little bit more room in the fridge. Plus give them 9 of their 5 a day, well, it will give 2 of them 9/5 and two of them 4/5, so might add some sweetcorn in there too. I know they got more at lunch, but I do like a challenge. Then vitamins C-A-K and E afterwards.
Dh's mood is going to crash, his dad is depressed after his operation, and so I need to remember not to take anything personally. I still have £65 left in the budget and 2 days left to spend it, and no food spends necessary. However I am in desparate need of a nice pair of pjs. I feel a charity shop raid coming on. I know just the one that does S&M clearance, and it might just be time for post-Xmas clearance stock to be coming in. Not just any ys pjs, S&M pjs. I have a full tank of petrol. The weather forecast for the next 72 hours is either rain, or wind and rain.
The weight loss has stalled. Not sure why, not put any of it back on, but I have not lost any for a week. Just stayed the same, will increase water drinking and see what occurs. I am doing all the right things,
I have read 4 books, and I can see my book pile shrinking - I am down to 2 piles from 4 at the start of the year. I have a list of books on my phone that I need to complete certain series but apart from that I am focussing on the books I already have.
The aerial is still dangling. I must get on with that at some point.

My DD2 is at Uni now and they support the action as it does seem unreasonable for academics to be on that sort of pay regime, but she is getting fed up with spending £9K + accom and not getting any tuition.

Urgh, just got confirmation not only is December's strike pay reducing the March pay packet, the VC has vetoed any further delays and the February strike days will all be deducted from March's pay as well. Good job I saved £1k from the housekeeping budget in Jan and Feb. It is going to be a double whammy!

My only entertainment is going to be my S&M Pjs greenbee Now that Pritti Patel is going to compel me to get a job as I am economically inactive..... what is she going to do take away my £31 a week child tax credit? Or just brand me as unpatriotic as it is my duty to take a low paid job and allow my kids to be feral (to be fair they probably would not take too much urging to go full on honey badger)
