20 20s for 2020

December. The end of the year and this time, a decade. And for some reason it’s got me thinking. We (well a lot of my friends) spend so much energy beating ourselves up about lack of achievement, yo-yo dieting, overspending and can miss out on so much of the small stuff.

With this in mind I’m creating a list of 20 20s to mark the year.

The plan is to maximise my cheap gym membership (unlimited swimming and unlimited classes for £45 a year); remembering to relax, spending time people I love. And appreciate them more.
And do all of the 20s with minimal but also planned spending.

So far on my list I have
Swim 20 miles
Watch 20 new to me films
Read 20 books
Go for 20 walks
Make 20 new meals
Have 20 date nights
De clutter 20 items a month
Make 20 squares for cat blankets
20 bike rides
20 yoga classes
20 lazy days
Enjoy 20 cakes.
20 topless drives (my car is an old convertible and I need to remember to seize the day more often a drive lid free!)

But I need more to get to the 20. Any ideas that won’t cost a fortune. There’s just me & Him & 2 fluffballs at home.

Am open to new ideas - it’s a new decade after all!
I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.
I work to live, not live to work.
I love to live & live to love.
Good enough is exactly that.

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)
  • I like the photo idea, especially as I’m hoping to redecorate the hallway.....the thing with me & photos is that I don’t care if they are flattering if they capture what I class as a “moment”.

& oooooo the 20 £20s....... that ticks so many boxes!

20 bulbs could work....am not at all green fingered.....do bulbs work in containers? I.ve got 2 empty ones I’d planned to add grasses to for the cats to chase in the wind.....

I had considered added make 20:home made treats.....am very limited on ability but there’s nothing wrong with sticking with what will get eaten!

Just be aware of the new notes coming out though you should have plenty of time to swap them:

    Exchanging old notes

You will still be able to use the paper £20 note until we withdraw it from circulation. We will announce the withdrawal date after we have issued our new polymer £20 note. We will give six months’ notice of this withdrawal date.

Many banks will accept withdrawn notes as deposits from customers. The Post Office may also accept withdrawn notes as a deposit into any bank account you can access at the Post Office. And, you can always exchange withdrawn notes with us.

Visit 20 new places (needn't be far, maybe just going down a street in your town you've never been down. Sometimes I look a different direction to normal if I'm a passenger in a car and realize there's a house I've literally never seen in 10 years of living here).

    Love the 20 £20s!

Is 20 the limit? As I am pretty sure I can overachieve on this one.
