Hi,

Is it normal for a combi boiler to rev up a bit, you hear a popping noise (expansion vessel I guess) then it ticks over, and repeats every 3 - 4 minutes? Getting a bit bored of the popping noise to be honest.

New boiler, Potterton Promax in a new build.

Thanks

Just skimming through the manual and...
    1. With a demand for heating or hot water, the pump
circulates water through the primary circuit. If the pressure is
at least 0.5 bar and the ignition sequence will start.

    2. When the flow temperature exceeds the setting
temperature, a 3 minute delay occurs before the burner
relights automatically (anti-cycling). The pump continues to
    run during this period.

    3. When the demand is satisfied the burner is extinguished
and the pump continues to run for a period of 3 minutes
    (Pump Overrun)

I don't fully understand the above but I'm guessing it's working as designed?

Anyone? Can I change the boiler temperature to alter this? Should you be able to hear the expansion valve pop every 3 minutes?

    Thanks

Is the revving up the exhaust fan starting then the popping the gas being ignited?

Possibly, it's every 3 minutes definitely, which does tie in with that quote from the manual above
