In my poorer days (not much better now!) for about ten years I had an overdraft of about £7,000 which obviously cost me a fortune to maintain on a monthly basis. I have no argument with the interest I was having to pay but wondered if there might have been an element of credit insurance (i.e similar to PPI) that I was being charged? Anybody got experience of trying to claim this back?

Highly unlikely, on a current account.

Most banks didn't offer PPI on their personal accounts. Although a few did. Barclays being the most noteable. However, I don't recall anyone ever mentioning that Midland/HSBC offered PPI on their current accounts.
