Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

Socks for the feet, IMDb for the unknown actress, bath/heatpad/paracetamol for your poor creaking body...and I can't help with the rest. :)

What was the weird word? I had to look up how to spell column and piled earlier because my brain wouldn't co-operate.

I've already got socks on, and they are under a duvet as well. :(

    Actress...... don't know her surname.

Can't have a bath because my damaged wrists aren't able to push down on the sides when I want to get out, so I'd have to stay in it for ever.

Word....... it was just strange....a strange construction of a normal word.

However, I have just taken some paracetamol.

Plus, at some stage I will have to get up to go to the loo, so I'll put the bins out then.
As for the shoes....... I shouldn't really be buying any anyway. Even really beooooooooooootiful ones. Plus, whenever I buy anything from the States, something always goes wrong, so I have escaped that hassle, I suppose.

When I can't remember someone's name, I look up the programme on IMDb and look at the folk's photos. Pretty much everything I watch there's a moment of, "Oh, it's that guy...what do I know him from?"

It wasn't me that did the strange thing to the word, was it? I have a tendency to forget how words are supposed to work and accidentally abuse the English language. It usually makes sense in my head, but not in other people's ears. :o

No, not you........it was on a completely different thread, and it appears to be in the dictionary, but it's so very odd.

I have lots of irritations today.

A couple of threads have irritated me.
    A weird word.
I've got food to use up before it goes off, but I'm not hungry.
    My feet are cold.
There's a woman on TV and I can't remember which programme she's from.
A shoe site seems to have lost its UK site and all the prices are in dollars and it won't deliver to the UK.
Another shoe site, with gorgeous shoes, won't let you buy anything without opening a b****y account, so sod that.
Lots of bits of me ache.
I've got to put the bins out and I don't want to move.

Yeah but apart from that I presume things are going well :rotfl:

Right! Time to put those bins out, then back to bed for the duration. :D

The loud neighbour has just started hammering again. He's been in all day, but he waits till the evening to start being noisy. Hoping it's not going to go on till after midnight again, else I'm going to have to start tutting and/or seething again.

I'm strangely annoyed that the prickly neighbour--who kept pestering my contractors on the odd weekends they were doing work on the flat--hasn't said anything to this new guy about the late night banging, the door slamming or the loud hallway conversations. Not sure why I deserve special attention.

Perhaps he thinks he might get thumped by the guy if he were to say anything to him?
Maybe he doesn't think you'd thump him?

My contractors were all blokes, though, and at least one of them quite intimidating-looking (he's actually lovely). I look a bit intimidating (buzzcut, bit butch).

My best guesses are a) he doesn't like a woman living here (I'm the only one, so it's the only obvious difference) or b) he had some kind of problem with the bloke who used to live in my flat (I heard a rumour that he caused some sort of problems) and decided to sort me out before I became a problem.

You could jump around a bit, and yell hi-ya! a few times, then tell him you're a karate champion and you were practising.

On the plus side a neighbour has just rang to ask are we having any problems with the plumbing, we have for over a week but I did not think it was worth getting anyone in as they were not that bad, anyway they have contacted the water board so hopefully that will get sorted soon
