Money Savers Arms
Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.
It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.
For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.
Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.
We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.
Thanks
MSE Forum Team

I have to say, there are plenty of people here in France complaining about the heat as well, so it really isn't just a Brit thing. And, for many people, "getting out and enjoying it " is exactly what we can't do. For me, being outdoors stops at midday, except for doing the watering just before I go to bed.
Not everybody, in any country, can tolerate heat, much less be outside enjoying it.
My nearest beach is nearly three hours away by car, and I hardly sleep (maybe four hours in bits and bobs) but I have rivers and a canal a few miles away.
If you haven't left the house for three weeks I guess you are retired like me - think yourself lucky, millions have to go to work.
No... not retired.... I'd look for a job but ... it's too hot to go out for interviews, especially as I've no suitable clothes for interviews in super hot weather
I'm fair skinned and bald as a badgers ar*e.
Its not as bad as '76 when I was doing 12 hour shifts in a stuffy portacabin with no air conditioning and too dusty outside to open the windows.
Or '74 when I was doing manual stuff 12 hours a day in full sun.
Lifes a breeze in 2018 and there is a breeze now too.
I have serious skin issues...and the heat causes these to flare up...it makes me really weak and sore.
I also get overly tired in the heat....even allowing for the sensible continental idea of an after-lunch nap.
One blessing is that I live by the sea...so we get a few relieving sea breezes....But nowhere near enough!
I am quietly looking forward to October...I am a HUGE fan of Autumn!
I'm only out in the sun when I walk the dogs and that's around 0900 and only in breaks of shade because I choose shady walks for them. Otherwise I'm sitting under a thick parasol for elevenses and a lie down to read my book.
1976 was fantastic - I was at university at Essex, not far from the sea, with a wonderful lake on campus where you could swim in the day and all go skinny dipping after the bar closed.
Happy days!
This is on a comparison with Sorrento when we were there years ago.
