Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

I have 3 credit cards all with credit limits in excess of £12k

I have two credit cards I use, one from the Nationwide with a 11K limit that gives .5% cashback....whoop! and gives a good exchange rate abroad and a backup card from the Halifax with about an 8K limit which is also good abroad. I never pay interest on them as I pay them off in full each Month by Direct Debit.
The cards tend to be tighter on their limits than they used to be, in the good old days of Credit Card Stoozing I would regularly get new Credit Cards with a 10K limit despite having about 30K "debt" already on other cards.....not real debt as it was stuffed in a bank account earning interest.

People dont like Royalty for whatever reason, for me its how we are supposed to basically worship them just because we are British when the coverage can be on many other more worthy causes.

I'd guess that depends on an individual's view of what a worthy cause is.

The Royals are a side issue though. I prefer them to the alternative, an elected head of state, but their doings hold no interest for me personally.
They're people. They do the things that people do. Yawn.
    It's not really news.
Sport's not "news" either for me. I wish they'd keep the Royals in the gossip section, and sport in the sport's section.

Thats part of it for me too, they are just people but I have heard in the outside world if you say you don't like or even just don't care about royalty you get shocked responses ranging from basic why nots to how you are not patriotic and such.

To me they are no different than any other people just born into priviledge, it does annoy people when for example you hear about a royal having an operation or after one has a baby how well they are coping, well so would anyone with an entire private ward and the best doctors in the country.

    Not me. :)

I quite like hearing about good news for a change.
It's a welcome relief from all the latest debacles at Westminster etc.

I can't understand why people would mind. :A

I'm not interested in the royal family but it doesn't bother me when the new baby or the wedding, is commented on. Easy enough to ignore, really.

Mine's been bad as well. Stress causes my bowel to go on strike and even once the stress is gone it takes another 36 hours for it all to shift :o......and that was this morning  and it will go on shifting til I'm empty
