Lifetime ISA bonus after marriage

currently engaged and plan to marry in 2019/2020. Our house is in my name only and my partner is not on the mortgage. She has a Lifetime ISA that we would like to use against the first house we buy together (she has never owned, always rented).

My question is, once we are married will she still be able to get the lifetime ISA bonus on a house we buy together? as technically once married she would own half of the current house? even though she will not be named on the existing house deeds/mortgage.

Replies

  • Yes she would be entitled to the bonus.

Once you are married she won't own half of your current house. You will continue to be the only owner unless you have the title changed to include her. She would, however, have an interest in the property and a potential claim on it should you get divorced.
