Oh the best laid plans...... there was nowhere to park on our street last night, double yellow lines on adjacent street, so I parked 12 mins walk away. This morning it was tipping down, the walk to my car was up a steep hill and I got soaked! but most importantly It meant I couldn't carry the bag of CS stuff :mad:

On the bright side though, DH is away tomorrow night so I am planning on pulling clothes out to see which can be released! I will have to choose just a couple of catefories, I think. I can just add things to the loitering CS bag

Morning all.

Furniture is eminently reducable to smaller, more transportable pieces. I have seldom had use of even a small car and have had ample opportunity to experiment with dismantling things (even cut up an old carpet with the bread-knife one time, lol).

If you flip over a divan bed, or a sofa/ armchair, there is usually a woven plastic cloth stapled over the frame. This can be cut off pretty easily to access the gubbins and perhaps even the loose change - once came across someone who found a 1 ounce gold bullion coin in their couch, worth £1,000 who was absolutely delighted and who had no idea how it came to be there! And yes, I was thinking why do things like that never happen to me?! :rotfl:

One you can get at the gubbins, you can cut up the frame. Furniture frames are often beech, which is quite tough, but can be cut most easily with a power saw. My cousin has a battery powered hand-saw which she was making good use of when we had to clean our Nan's bungalow last year (some of the furniture was no good and had to be skipped).

Will be getting one more wear from a pair of 'religious' socks and then they will go for ragging and, apart from the two carrier bagfuls which went to the chazzer this week and 2 lb in flab, that was about it.

Clearing out of rellies homes continuing - one house now sold and the other nearly ready for putting on market although there are plenty of cupboards to still empty and sort.

OH has now moved in to my small home temporarily as he's let go of his rental place so lots of kondoing done by OH. Getting back on my own Kondoing mission and yesterday 3 items of clothing, 1 pair of gloves and a handbag went off to the CS and 2 pairs of worn out knickers ragged.

Had previously read on here about sorting and labelling bags for CS so have been doing that with rellies things; clean rags/clothes for sale/items for sale etc. I even separated out coats and jackets from the rest of the clothes. Staff and volunteers all v happy that it's been done for them.

No progress on building work for our new home as we're too stressed to make any decisions and don't want to make expensive mistakes so it is standing empty (except for OH's furniture) and looking very sad.

hehe loose change GQ, we used to do that as children, amazing what you could find down the back of a sofa

:T I feel really satisfied at the moment, having experimented with various patterns and alterations and am now able to make panties ie knicks from remnants and old t shirts. I got fed up with the quality of sloggi going down the pan, £8 a time at least. Every pair I make saves me £8 and they look far far nicer. Details in recent posts on the sewing thread, including youtube and other links. Its called having your cake and eating it or killing two birds with one stone. Those who wear thongs could probably get 8 pairs out of a t shirt. I get one

Ooo, that's VERY interesting, I shall peruse that on a day when I have more time, I am a long-term sloggi customer who has given up on them due to the ridiculous expense and the declining quality, they are very much not the quality product they were and every woman I know who wears them tells the same tale.

Was on the lottie last night when the phone rang and it was a pal who'd got a couple of part-used craft kits from a pal of hers who was chucking them out in a move, would I like? I would. She also is going to be the happy recipient of something which I wombled, so will be getting that over to her in the next week or so. Fair exchange is no robbery etc etc.;)

This afternoon, after w*rk, I plan to toddle to [STRIKE]the very-reasonably-priced-antiquish-emporium[/STRIKE] errr junk shop, as my spidey sense tells me that there may be something there needing to be kondo'd. If nothing else, I can play with the shop window display, which I love doing. If anything droll turns up, I'll be sure to let you know.

I loooove browsing juntique shops, some genuine antiques, some antique junk (cups without saucers...), lots of interesting junk. Usually, I buy something from the card rack, especially now my house is largely konmarie'd and I don't want to bring in anything I have to dust

A card stores easily and will be sent off to bring joy somewhere else.
