It may be a good idea to avoid the First Class carriages on trains coming into Euston tomorrow morning, and give a wide berth to Michelin star restaurants around the Westminster area in the afternoon.

There were two women on BBC Wales news this morning - as usual claiming that the Government were "stealing" £42,000 which they had paid in over 40 years of work -they were off to London for the demo. Hope it absolutely p******s down!!!

yeah, I saw them, almost launched my coffee at the telly :mad:

but then, they can't be that intelligent, coming out with a statement like that but having missed all the publicity & info that started 24 years ago.........

Someone really should explain that it's WASPI trying to steal from them. The earlier state pension age would mean that many women would reach state pension age before 6 April 2016 and not be eligible for the flat rate pension. Since that normally pays women more it's not an improvement to miss out on it.

The WASPI two remaining founders may not be affected by this because I think that they worked enough to get over that flat rate level anyway. It's their less well off sisters who would be hurt by it.

Could the equalisation of State pension age between men and women have been introduced differently? Of course it could - it should have been included in the 1975 Sex equality/discrimination act. That way, it could have been drip fed in as a 1 year increase each decade starting in 1985.

I'm a 50's woman too, I knew over 20 years ago that I wouldn't get my pension at age 60.
I was originally told it would be paid next month at age 63 years and 6 months but it was then put back to 64 years and 9 months.

I'm ashamed to be in the group of women that WASPI say they are representing.

My interpretation for what it is worth is that MSE Faye wasn't endorsing WASPI but was simply informing those that read the Pensions forum of WASPIs aims and about the event. I would have thought that informing was MSEs role and that selective non-informing would be a greater sign of bias and selective information giving. From my limited knowledge she and MSE seem wrongly accused.

The people that are giving most oxygen to the WASPI claims by fanning the threads seem to me to be it's opponents which is odd because you'd think they'd simply want to let it suffocate from it's own level of thread disinterest.

And in an attempt to head off a set of presumptions about my sympathies and hate-fest, I disagree with WASPIs aims, now that I understand them a touch better as a result of seeing both sides to the argument on MSE Pensions forum, but think MSE is great for being a place that allows fora for all views to be aired so that I can be better informed in order to make up my own mind about these things.
