It's an interesting spot alright.
One thing I will say is that there are so many motorbikes there, the air can be a bit heavy with pollution. I was amazed by that. But it is such a small space and the bikes are crammed into it.
Otherwise, I would honestly stay on the Spanish side cheaper too! Just a walk across with your passport (don't forget that) and you are there.
Gibraltar is so different, and so much the same. I hope you understand what I mean.

The bus is certainly a good way to travel around , one thing you can't miss is a trip on the cable car to the top of the Rock, you can buy a joint ticket to the cable car and nature reserve which includes the Monkey reserve as long as you follow the advice the monkeys are fine to visit. Also visit St. Micheals Cave its spectacular.and the wartime caves are interesting too. They have a new suspension bridge on the Upper Rock you can walk over the views from up there are amazing and not to be missed.
Casemate Square and Ocean Village are great people watching and eating places and of course there is Sunborn the liner hotel and casino, the Dolphin watching trips, there are also several really nice beaches with seafood restaurants overlooking them.
I've travelled to Gibraltar from London many times and I've only been diverted to Malaga twice over the last 6yrs.. Have a wonderful time its a very interesting place to visit.
