We were paying for our water quarterly but since we moved in June it took 6 months for our first bill to come which was £204. That works out to £34 month which isn't too bad but could be less. So I decided to switch to direct debit monthly but they want to charge us £73 per month! How is that justified? That's more than my gas and electric combined. Should I call them and switch it back?

Have you got a water meter or are you assessed on rateable value?.

Was you six monthly bill based on meter readings (ie based on actual consumption) or on a na estimate. If it was based on meter readings then get back to them and get it revised, If it was a guesstimate, then go and check your meter to see if it was anywhere near accurate - if so then get back to them and get it revised.

If f you know what you use, then hopefully you can have an intelligent conversation, if you dont have a clue then their guess is as good as yours.

    You appear to be metered.

Did you pay the £204 bill? Or does the £73 monthly cover that sum(£204) as well as future estimated consumption?
  • I've paid the bill.

  • Turns out they had included my last bill in the payments. It's all sorted now, thanks x
