LoveFilm by post

I came on here to find out if anyone else using Lovefilm by post has had an email telling them it's going up to £11.99 a month in February, I currently pay £4 a month, so that's an outrageous 200% increase!
Can they do this? Has anyone spoken to them and got it back down to a more reasonable price? I am going to phone them on the weekend as there is no way I can afford that every month for DVD rental.
Thanks

Why don't you just sign up for Amazon Instant Video instead? Pretty sure it's only £5.99 per month

  • I used to use both but cancelled the instant package as I was unimpressed with the content.
I continued with the postal service as it was value for money, which is no longer the case :(

To be honest I reckon they're trying to phase out LoveFilm.

I used to be signed up to it when you could rent games from them, but they stopped that so I left. I think the fact that they've raised the price massively, and the fact that it's quite difficult to find any mention of LoveFilm on the Amazon website, shows that they're tying to get people to move to their streaming service.

  • I just got my email telling me of 5X price increase. Just cancelled my account. How can you justify a 5 X price increase! I suspect lots of people will cancel.

That's the point. They want you all to pay £79 a year on that Amazon prime thing

My subscription has also gone up from GBP2 (1 disc at a time) to GBP9.99 (2 discs at a time)

TBH I was expecting a rise soon as the price was only GBP2 after the announcement of the bundling of video streaming & Amazon Prime, which I took up. However, the huge increase is very offputting.

The change doesn't happen for me until February 2016, at which point, think I will cancel. I probably won't renew Amazon Prime either in May 2016 as the price goes up for me too then.

I agree that Amazon are probably trying to get rid of LoveFilm.

According to the FAQ I am +5.99 so not too bad.... it's been ridiculously cheap for ages i'm surprised it hasn't gone up sooner.

The above link does say the emails were sent out between the 27th & 29th but I haven't had one.
