Flight Delay Compensation

We booked a package holiday though First Choice in 2009 travelling to Egypt flying with Thomson Airways, our return flight to Gatwick was delayed by 24 hours & 490 minutes as the aircraft due to operate the flight home suffered a technical problem on arrival in Sharm El Sheikh. The problem can not be rectified quickly and part were required from the UK, the crew exceeded their legally permitted operating hours and were required to rest before operating the flight the following day. We were taken to a hotel for the night after spending 5 hours at the airport and transferred back to the airport the following day to catch the flight home. Please advise if we have a valid claim.
