Windows Vista Laptop - Won't Stay Connected To The Internet

Hi, I'm really hoping that someone can help me. I have an Acer Aspire 7730 laptop running Windows Vista. I have an o2 dongle and an o2 wifi thingy. I can connect to both of them but the laptop doesn't stay connected. It probably stays connected for just under a minute. I've used the same laptop at home and I'm pretty sure it remains connected to the home broadband. I've used the o2 'chat' feature to try and fix this problem but they don't seem to know how to fix the problem. I don't think it's an issue with the dongle, wifi or o2 because my phone and MP3 player can connect and stay connected without any problems. I'm seriously considering upgrading my laptop to Windows 8 to see if that will fix the problem but on the other hand I don't want to pay to upgrade if it's not going to make any difference.

Does anyone know what the answer is?

Thanks for reading.
