I was slightly baffled as I was paying £160 per month with SSE and I had thought that was a pretty good deal. After I had accepted the deal on the website, I was phoned by Npower to go through everything and the lady from Npower confirmed that yes, £120 per month is all I would be paying.
Fast forward one month and my payment had increased to £144 per month. A bit annoying but still less than I was paying before so I thought nothing of it.
Fast forward another five months and my payment has now been increased to £225 per month. I have used an almost identical amount of energy as I used with SSE last year and the price I was quoted from Npower was also based on these figures.
My contention is that Npower quoted a ridiculously low price that they knew was far too low in order to steal a customer from a rival and then let them run up a huge bill then increase their payment from it's original £120 to £225 per month.
I feel I have been massively duped and wondered what, if anything, I can do about it.
