Yet another example of the CAB not having the first CLUE about private parking charges being a scam. They've given this bogus charge a legitimacy it never had. :mad:

Your major gripe was having the CCJ on your credit file, by "settling out of court" that CCJ is going to hang around your neck for SIX YEARS.

County Court Judgment (CCJ) records
Unless you pay the full amount of the judgment within one month, your CCJ will be recorded on the Register of County Court Judgments for six years.
Organisations such as banks, building societies and loan companies use the registered information to help decide whether to give you credit or loans, like a mortgage.

You really should have taken the (good) advice posters on here offered.

what the .........i can't get my head around this, why would anyone do it. you would of won hands down in court, had no ccjs on file and still had your money with the help of the posters on here. i'm upset

Mrs_P-P, you are now going to have to take the PPC to court to get your money back. You need to issue a Small Claims Court Summons, and fast.

Of course if you paid the PPC by cheque, get on the phone to your bank and cancel it NOW, or if you paid by credit card or Visa debit card, start a charge-back IMMEDIATELY.

Of course there is always the issue of a criminal act being performed by the PPC's employee. Even CEO's are not allowed to touch a cover on a vehicle in order to discover the reg. no.

What must be borne in mind is that not everyone is able to cope with the hassle of fighting a ppc in circumstances like these. Everyone is different and if this outcome stops the OP from suffering due to worry etc then it is not for us to complain about it. Most of us would say, scr+w them, where's the boximg gloves but for some a life free from stress is essential.

A big Hello from a newbee.
After having read the whole story....
Whilst I totally understand the point made by peter_the_piper about having a limit as to how much can one cope with; I can't help feeling that if one seeks advice and guidance, one should be prepared to follow the overwhelming/consistent advice about fighting it. Otherwise why not just pay them off at the beginnig and save alot of people time??

Am I being too harsh?

Yes, in my opinion. Its not till one takes advice that one can understand the problem. I think the stress of fighting these sc*m is worse than just finding an easy solution. The op found a solution which suited them, the rest of us would find fighting them more enjoyable.

Then the OP was given good advice to handle the problem and be rid of the CCJ and have a clean record, instead they decided to ignore all the advice and settle the debt with the PPC.

Now they still have a CCJ, will have a bad credit file for 6 years and enriched some PPC scum. :mad:

That is hardly a solution.

Granted, but its the one that they chose, whether we agree that its the right one or not. I don't think that we should berate them if its not the way we would have gone. I don't know enough about law to know if they were able to negotiate a way out of the ccj or not, they have not said.
