Fortunately this morning MrT did have a few items & I was able to get ¾ kg each of beef mince, pork mince & casserole steak, so with what I already had in that will be enough meat & fish for November’s meals. Only 1/3rd off, as it was early, but that is still a significant amount on meat & there hasn’t been anything available in the evenings, so I am happy.
I am really pleased with how this month’s budget is going. Having completed the week 3 top-up shop I have spent only slightly over £100. Only one more weekly top-up to do & plenty left in the budget still.
Interesting item on Watchdog this evening about grocery shopping; three teams were give a list, which could be purchased for less than £12. One team spent a less than £15 but two of the teams spent over £20! This was because they assumed that the special offers, bigger packs & loose produce would be better value without working out the unit cost, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. Of course we know better! :A
Now spent about £92 of £200 budget with need to buy more stuff tomorrow for the weekend (milk, cereal, goats cheese, honey, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar - eek  and, um, wine...).
popped to boots at lunchtime to get a few bits - paid by boots advantage points
Dinner was waitrose chicken nuggets and oven chips and sweetcorn for kids after swimming class & did risotto (using up green beans and ham) for me and DH
Took leftover HM spag bol for lunch!
Off to do a shopping list for tomorrow/weekend
I managed to get several items on my list from the clearance shelf which I was really pleased about, and a few whoopsied veg. So total spend was £32.86.
I am aiming for a NSD today , I have spent about £70 so far this month
and I am going to try not to spend over the weekend too as I can make some bread and I dont think we need anything else.
nope just realised after reading flying fresians post I need some cat food
Was hoping for a NSD today but running low on butter, no eggs again, milk running low and last of the yogurts gone in DD's lunch box..

When I was in MrT's last week I noticed that a small tin of 200g sweetcorn in water was 32p and a cling-film multipack of three was £1.25
