Hello everyone:hello:
I feel very nervous as I type this, but i wanted to start my own DFW diary to keep me off the streets as it were!
As you have probably already guessed i am a bit of a Blackadder fan, and am known as BOB around these here parts. Short for boredofbeingathome, but also on advice from Ellidee, and from an old family nickname (won't go there)
I have been very inspired by all the debt busting efforts, and advice of folk on here.Elantan, Hypno, Pania, ISOM,Donner kebab,Snaggles, Tigtag,Ciara..and numerous others :T I hope to put all of their ideas into action, and really get to grips with everything that has been going on in the festering, turnip strewn, blustering pit, that has passed for my life this past year.:o
Down to the nitty gritty bits now. I have personal debts, which include a car loan, and two cards. This totals £5000. Two of these are on 0% interest, the car loan and the Argos card ( i got my eldest daughter some furniture) The other card is an Amazon, Halifax card which will hopefully be paid off in the next three months. I want to clear these and then i can make more headway into Mr.B's stuff (business..long story)
So far i have signed up to a couple of challenges, but admit i am a coward when it comes to putting stuff on E bay. I enjoy the Grocery challenge and have probably saved myself over £500, on this in the past three months. I have signed up to Quidco,pigsback etc. Joined a couple of Mystery shopping agencies, claimed back credit card charges from years ago. I budget tightly, but maybe not as vigorously as i could, I also use the snowball calculator.
The money saved went to a good cause, My Cornwall, got to visit my eldest daughter fund...It is a must!:D I have a separate account and a tent for emergencies.:cool:
Now comes the other bit..
I am a supply teacher ...absolutely hate it :mad: Not teaching, but awful schools. A month or so ago, i decided to get tough with supply agencies about sending me there, and have so far managed to use old contacts to get a few days work. I am applying for other jobs, but i have other commitments regarding my youngest daughter. She has medical problems, which require a lot of hospital visits. Most of these will tail off, but not good when trying to explain for job interveiws..so i am exploring all avenues to fit around these commitments.
I didn't want to take this route, as suggested to Kate/Bob, by her father..
Her aging father informs her that due to his imminent dotage he must look to his daughter to sustain him, and suggests that the best way is for her to become a prostitute.
“ Oh, please go on the game; it's a steady job, and you'd be working from home! "

I really would be boredofbeingathome then, so i will have to find some other cunning plan.:D
So thats me, mother of three, married to one, struggling like everyone else just trying to make a little sense of this world
I may well meander a bit, have a bit of a moan, but am hoping to get there in the end, going forth is my new motto!

I know exactly how you feel about struggling to juggle hospital appointments with work, it's really not easy and you have my sympathy. Ever so glad you are not considering the 'oldest profession' though! :rotfl:

Thanks, i think they have been helping me sleep a lot lately. Two turnips in the ear, help block unwanted noises..amazing the uses for a turnip:D

I am hoping to teach at night school, although I am a Primary school teacher. I agree about the grim schools, it really puts me off and i am not easily put off!
I tend to get mad on behalf of the children, as in poor facilities, and a clear air of no hope about..if that makes sense. They can also be rude and aggressive, which i find an appalling reflection on the school.
I have also taught in some really nice schools in poor areas, and used to keep an open mind, but i have a ltd amount of patience lately.
You have done very well with your challenges so far..well done.
