There are 55000 new households being created every year more than the number of houses being built.
Not saying that everything is rosey - just trying to remain objective.
Absolutely - the tent cities in our parks are evidence enough of that --
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Add to that all the Poles heading home for a better life and I think this housing shortage might be a tad overstated
According to a piece in the Times a while back the UK has one of the lowest rates of housing vacancies in Europe. Annecdotally that seems reasonable - if you drive round France or Ireland for example there seem to be loads of empty places.0 -
Yes there is a terrible overcrowding problem. Mostly people who can't afford to buy are affected by this but it is a kind of "hidden homelessness".
The housing market was still bound to hit a point when prices would fall though with the nonsense lack of financial regulation and lack of affordable housing planning we've had.0 -
350,000 to become 'unwaged' in the next 12-18 months
The UK could lose 350,000 jobs and see almost £1bn wiped off company profits, according to research based on the forecasts of business leaders.
That's a lot of distressed sellers and a lot of peeps who are too scared to spend money in case they're next!
